Angie Chai is the producer the Tourism Bureau idol drama "Fruit Tears", and is estimated to begin shooting in July. With regards to image packaging, AC said yesterday: "Everyone might not be aware that now it's important to change their name into JVKV (taken from the first letters of their English names), but these wordings won't have to change the so-called F4. Also, on the issue on who will substitute for whom, from the start, it's already known that Jerry and Vanness had previous commitments taken, and could not entirely join in the project. It's only Zaizai and Ken who would definitely be in the casting.

The changing of the all-famous F4 name might not be easy. AC explained that F4 is their role name during their Meteor Garden series. At that time, the Japanese Publisher who owned the copyrights authorized it's use. However, nowadays, the Japanese had come up with their own Meteor Garden. If this will continue, in the future it's possible that both countries will have two F4s. That is why the Japanese Publisher conveyed their wish that if another "wave" has nothing to do with the Meteor drama, they asked not to use the name F4 again. So in the Tourism Bureau's International Fan Meeting held a few days ago, the name was already changed to JVKV.

AC also said that actually, the Tourism Bureau looked for JVKV to serve as spokespersons, film an idol drama, as the 4 can undoubtedly act best However, Yan and Wu had already filled commitments by the second half of this year. She frankly said that with the drama's drawing power, its impossible to have 4 male leads for the parts. During that time, the drama "wave" role of Dao ming Shi was the heaviest, therefore, they never made the "Fruit" drama to demand 4 male leads, because there are presently two female leads, hoping to come up with two plots. Excluding Zaizai and Ken, she really once asked Mike He but finally, because of his commitments, they had to give him up.

cant be help. the copyright of F4 belongs to the Japanese manga publisher, she already let Angie Chai used it for almost 5 years.

anyway, each of F4 has already made a name for themselves individually, so a group name is not of that importance to them.

anyway, am glad to read news that again vindicate Jerry. that what he has been saying is the truth compared to Angie Chai's lies, which is, he had from the beginning informed all parties involves in the tourism project that he cant join in the tourism drama as he had already committed himself to other acting projects. & that his contract with the Tourism Board, in black & white, dont include the tourism drama. this is contrary to what Angie Chai has been saying the past few months, that Jerry will be acting in the tourism drama. for Vanness, he's just playing a guest role in the tourism drama as his schedule is too tight.

imagine, even when F4 went to Japan & Korea in 3/07 for presscon, Angie Chai was still saying Jerry is in the tourism drama, when Jerry had already said in 12/06 that he wont be in the tourism drama.

OMG WHOA. how could they do that?? making F4 change their name! even though F4 isn't as famous as they once were anymore, they always have this special place in ppl's hearts as flower 4! F4 is like...a household name thing every asian knows...JVKV...is like...weird. even though F4 themselves aren't gonna be any different and ppl will still love them despite the name, its just so weird to think that...THE famous F4...is no longer F4. if japan authorized it back then, even if they have their own hana yori dango F4, how could they just make F4 change their name now? aww that's mean. those 4 were the ones that made the name "F4" famous anyway, now that its a popular thing they want it back?? and yes F4 was a name from hana yori dango and then meteor garden, the name "F4" means a lot more than just that to everyone now.

and too bad jerry and vanness can't be in the drama! i was sooo looking forward to seeing them f4 in a drama together again...

Their achievements should speak more of themselves. Even if they become JVKV, they are now accomplished names by themselves and the name F4 is just a formal group title. Their rise to fame is a phenomenal feat uncontested until now. So who cares if the Japanese owns the name F4? They didn't even bother to question it not until F4 became a household name. What is important is their sovereign assertion on being the legendary heroes who spurred the modern "Taiwanese wave".

However, AC should stop dragging Jerry's name in her misfortunes on the preparations for her "Fruit" drama. It's not Jerry's fault, so whatever delay, settings, etc is entirely because of her. Her denials (for what she had said before and for what she is saying now) are now all turning against her.

its soo much easier just callin them F4 than JVKV.. rather just say JK double V.. . buh despite thier change of name the fans will still recognize them as F4. legal wise the cant call themselves F4 buh at heart and to the fans they remain the same. a name is just a name because they are still who they are. they made it clear that they are individuals throughout the ears with solo albums and such.

It will be difficult for people to stop referring to them as F4.
JVKV rolls off the tongue rather easily but it just doesn't feel quite the same.
If anything, I think the group has brought so much more attention (& probably profit) to Hana Dori Yango & the creator- I know for sure if it wasn't because of them I would not have gone out to grab the manga or watch the anime, too ^__^
Either way, it probably doesn't matter so much now since they are more focussed on their individual careers & as fans, we'd support them anyways! <3

the article has already stated the reason. the copyright of F4 belongs to the Japanese manga creator, not Angie Chai.

JVKV isn't very intuitive to be honest. They just took the first letter of the first name.
They are famous as F4 and it's not a good idea to change now. But it seems they have no choice?

It weird, I never watched Meteor Garden so I didn't know that their name 'F4' came from the series. True, the Japanese publishers might own the copyright, but in reality, that's what they've become known as the past few years. Plus, it's not like the actors in Hana Yori Dango will ever form a group and call themselves 'F4' again.

probably because Japan has released its HYD and they have their own F4. since MG was an adaptation of HYD, angie had to obey the Japanese Publisher's wishes since F4 and HYD is copyrighted.

Yeah I agree. The owner of the original HYD let AC borrowed the name F4. Now that they asked the TW's F4 to no longer use their name, they have to obey the request. They way AC announced is just to tell the Japanese she already did what they wanted and JVKV from now on might not be able to call themselves F4 for legal reasons. But if fans would still call them F4 ( which I'm sure they would) then that can't be helped and the F4 themselves probably don't mind either.

About them disbanded, they have said long time ago that they got together as F4 only for MG and their real plan was to launch their individual career (which they have succeeded) SO, we are lucky to have them together for this long!

I kind of understand the reason why they have to change their name, but they've been known as "F4" for soooo long...like 6 years, and suddenly they have to change their name to JVKV?? That is so lame!
However, I'm so sure that noone will even call them JVKV. People and their fans will always call them "F4".

That's so lame....well, they had a good six years, might as well leave while they're on top.

but i dunno, JVKV don't really have that cohesiveness feel to it like F4. but i already suspected from the beginning that F4 members don't really own the name F4, which is dumb. their management should have bought the rights or license to it. i guess they thought the members have plans to establish solo careers from the beginning, so there's really no point. but they lose a lot on royalties though. like each time meteor garden is broadcasted abroad, F4 probably don't receive royalty checks on those.

but F4 has come to the point that they will always be known as F4, no matter how many times they change their name. but a name change is really pointless, just call them by their real names. duh.

so now is just ken and vic, huh? it would probably be just vic in the end, since ken has outside drama offers too. i'm still bumbed she seriously considered mike. ugh. i hate that, sorry( well i'm not really sorry, but some fans will violently react). Show lo, maybe.

oh well, but since they are two female leads, i guess it can be a VnB and KnR drama. i hate for ken to be playing second lead to vic again. that will suck.
