those ppl that know me quite well here in this forum will understand that i often type long responses.. sometimes close to a two page essay!!

I really enjoy this series, despite the not so good ending it had. It really gave me many different feelings watching it, different points in life, and new inspirations of the things i should see around me.

I think the character that gave me the most feelings is definately Gan yan Kin. His character went through so many experiences..and it is those experiences that changed his character as the series progressed.

He started out as a big notorious villain in everyone's eyes who gradually changed to someone with a better heart willing to help out with people in need (Ah Bik) and then finally understanding the goodness of human nature. He basically went from a villain in the story to a courageous and sacrificial hero. And I extremely admire that. he was willing to sacrifice all his goods and happiness for his loved ones. He didn't want to hurt anymore of his friends, his father, his master, and ah choi.. and 'thought' that by leaving them would acutally be the best thing. At the end, he didn't even care what people thought of him as long as his loved ones were able to rest in peace.

Dayo also acted wonderfully in the series. He is so flexible in changing his facial expressions throughout the entire series.. he can contort his face in disgust in one second, smile sweetly in another.. cry in some scenes without showing any traces of exaggeration!

He really should get into the top 5 actors.. i swear.. b/c his acting in this series definately beats actors like raymond lam, kevin cheng..

Im really happy that tvb gave dayo to act in this series.. because in this series.. dayo's character is able to expand and show off his acting skills without bounds. While most actors this year are only LIMITED to act their character, dayo as ah kin was able to express so many feelings for the audience to see.

I think that Dayo definately should deserve to get the most favorite character award..because his character is really significant for the show, and whats really great about his character is that his character was able to change from a bad person to someone good.

I do agree with you that he gave a good performance . But I don't think he beats raymond actually, but yeah that's besides the point

I think all the actors have done a great job this year & it's hard to choose who to win the best actor award . I do have to say Dayo deserves something, but also moses,raymond, bobby deserve an award this year. But if Dayo makes it to the top 5, its well deserved

I like how he changed at the end too, how he pretended to be evil again. All the sudden changes have been very well act by Dayo.

i agree, i don't understand why raymond was nominated for the heart of greed. i think he should of got nominated for the drive of life. he did a much better job in that series. i wouldn't say raymond's acting was extraordinary in DOL since there were many other leading roles but i think he did a wonderful job and it showed how his acting has improved even more. many next year he will win the best actor award.

Evil Kin is definitely one of my favorite TVB characters for this year. The other being Duk Duk Dei in HoG.
Moses' character in TUCF is funny, but it's just so unoriginal, I've seen characters like that many times in TVB series.
Raymond's characters in both DoL and HoG were not that likable either. His DoL character is so hot-headed and dumb, and his role in HoG was not even major and he was a two timer.

I'm not trying to argue with you or anything. I like Dayo's character, he was funny/evil/good everything together. I'm sure the audience liked Dayo's character when he turned good. But everyone hated him when he was evil, his actions were terrible.

The reason I picked Raymond's character in HOG is not because I'm a diehard fan, it's because I like those love stories more & I forgave him in the end in HOG. His character died tragic & not to mention Linda was also to blame for the mistakes in their relationship, so Alfred wasn't that bad. I mean I also loved Moses character in HOG & that doesn't mean I'm Moses die hard fan.

So perhaps people would only like him for half of the series, just like Raymond. Because they both turned out to be good. I forgave both of them.

That's just my opinion .

I agree with you. Dayo is a great actor and he has been around for a long time so it doesn't really matter if he is acturally better than Raymond. He has more experience, and that's what i tihnk Raymond need more of. But both actors are good in their own way. =)

I would want Dayo to win an award, because I thought that most of what he said in this drama was quite original. I know that some of his actions were a little too extreme...but hey, he did a good job at being Ah Kin. So ignore the complaints of HK viewers and let Dayo win an award!! hehehe ^^

Dayo is a good actor and has a great ability to show humor to the audience, however i think we have yet to see him be as versatile enough to be considered as one of the best actors, he does seem to have a different style in acting which is why i rate Dayo highly and enjoy most of his series, and i can't think of any1 else in TVB that could have done a better job than Dayo in portraying Evil Kin..
with regards to getting most fave character award, i dont think he will.. because the HK audience are quite stubborn in choosing based on their requirements the character must be flawless.. its like how ppl r saying raymond wont get fave character from heart of greed coz he cheated on his gf in the drama..
so i dunno how it will turn out, but i hope Dayo gets recognition for his good work!

I'm not a Raymond fan (diehard or otherwise), so, you can't accuse me of biasness. Personally, I think both Gan Yan Kin and Alfred deserve a place in the favourite character category. Alfred is a very well written character. His relationship with Seung Joi Sam is very real. When did he ever toy with Seung Joi Sam? He dated Seung Joi Sam because he really likes her. But they have different personality and different thinking that caused arguments. Both contribute to their failed relationship. He didn't realise how important Seung Joi Sam was to him until he lost her. But, that didn't mean he toyed with her before that. And Raymond performance was very good in HOG. All his emotional scenes was done well including his death scene. You gave leeway to Gan Yan Kin, but was so hard on Alfred. Didn't Alfred change for the better like Gan Yan Kin? Near the end, didn't he do everything for Seung Joi Sam just for Seung Joi Sam's happiness without hoping for anything in return? He turned good like Gan Yan Kin.

Character wise, I do prefer Gan Yan Kin to get the fave character award over Alfred. Gan Yan Kin's character was developed more since he's the main character of his series and no need to share screen time with Moses, Bosco, Ha Yu, etc. So, his character is more developed and undergo more changes. But Alfred is a strong and deserving candidate too. This role is not crappy at all.

But acting wise, honestly, I think Dayo cannot cry. He did well in other aspect, but he's weak in crying. Like the part he's remembering about his past. He looked very fake in his crying. I actually suspected whether Gan Yan Kin was faking or not in that scene. Raymond handles crying scenes better.

In terms of character, I think Gan Yan Kin is very interesting and was quite well-written. The character has many different layers, and it's hard to like him at times or completely hate him. If I am able to vote, I would definitely vote for Gan Yan Kin! But Gan Yan Kin faces tough competition from the male characters in HOG.

But nonetheless even though he might not win, I'm glad to see Dayo have the opportunity to play such an interesting character. I can't think of anyone else who would've done a better job at TVB.

I have like Dayo Wong's acting ever since his series long ago, about the cockroach or something? He is one actor who really deserve the award! his acting was so realistic that i believed that he changed for the worse towards the end of Men Don't Cry!

In his recent interview with Stephen Chan, Stephen revealed that he (Dayo) is actually afraid of cockroach and he admited it. But in the series, you see him so friend with the cockroach. Haha. Dayo is so professional. On the other hand, Carol Cheng is not afraid of cockroach.

During the recent interview, Dayo also expressed that HK audience was really "cruel" & "harsh" to him! Years ago, during one of his talk show, the audience asked him to talk about "girlfriend" when they knew that he had just sadly broken up with his girlfriend! He said he was so hurt............! So life was not easy for him......he had to work extra hard to become what he is now! Poor guy!

Although he is a good artist, as what jadedream27 has mentioned, MDC will surely face a big competition this year from HOG or even TDOL! (their castings & so on......!)

However, even if he can't get an award,it doesn't mean that he is not talented!!!
I never like Wong Fei Hung series/movies but MDC is an exception!

I also watched the interview, and I was wondering what happened with his girlfriend. Anyone know what happened since it seems like big news at the time? They didn't really talk about it that much except in bits and pieces.

I quite enjoy that interview with him. He seems very down to earth and direct, like how he said he had always wanted to be an actor but because of his looks, he couldn't get a role.

Pssh.. Raymond's character in hog isn't even really significant in teh story at all.. tvb can still make HOG a good series (perhaps better) if they just do without raymond lam. His character in that series was just another element added to the story to make it twice as long, twice as complicated and draggy to the story. PERSONALLY wise, raymond's role in that series, too me at least, is not significant.. and seriously, i have already forgotten his role in the series.

favorite character should be given to an actor who really have a very strong and memorable role. A role that is long lasting and makes you remember in a very long time. Raymond's role is WAY TOO ORDINARY. is like if you so want to give an award to someone who you think is SO good, a samanitarian then give it to MOSES CHAN INSTEAD!!?!?!

i just finished the series.. (haha, i know, i'm slow)

I dont know if Dayo deserves to be favorite actor, per se. But I definitely like him more than the newbie actors like kevin, raymond, bosco, sammul, (the guy from E02, i dont even remember his name..), blah, and blah. basically all the newbies that recently came out these past few years. Those actors really need more flexibility to deserve to be nominated. Dayo on the other hand, I really liked him in Catch the Uncatchable with Ada... the Men Women show with Doodoo Cheng.

Dayo is really good, but so is Wong Hei, Bobby Au Yeung, Michael Miu, and there are definitely some others that I'm forgetting at the moment that are superb actors along with Dayo. Although I dont follow the TVB awards thing-ie, I know, as a fact, that none of those awards given out are actually FAIR. so it's understandable that the ones who deserves to win never gets anything. Like HOG was suppose to be a good series??? (not in my opinion, it wasnt...) Lee Sei Kei was nominated? for real? she was good?? Susanna Kwan's song was the hit song of the year?? (I dont think so...). see? just don't put too much emphasis in the awards, it doesnt say anything..

This series wasnt out yet for me to watch.
When the awards show was on.
But now i really want Dayo to win Favourite Actor.
Because he was evil/funny/good character.
But all the actors tried thier best. XD

I think this serie is a little bit overrated, it was not that funny. Dayo was good, but not THAT good.

The cast of this serie was not super. It was a good serie for a low budget serie.
