Korea will make a film that was based on a famous manga Meteor Garden. That news has provoked tumults on the websites from few days ago.

People are curious most about is who will be the female leading-role. A few sites organized polls and as the result, the actors Jo In Sung, Hyun Bin, and Kang Dong Won took the lead of the people who had the most votes to be the male leading-role Dao Ming Si.

For the female character Shan Cai, Yoon Eun Hye is the first choice of netizens. Yoon Eun Hye was being famous from the drama Goong which was based on a comic book. The netizens was unanimous to think that she is the most suitable for Shan Cai's image. Besides, the brightly and lovely appearance of Han Ji Min and Lee Ha Na also received the netizens's supported.

For the enthusiasms of audiences to the drama, production company Group 8 said "We will think about to invite famous stars or also people that have never appeared before. We must see whether or not the actors/actresses are suitable with the characters; we are not care much about their famous levels."

Meteor Garden Korean version will be produced by Group 8 company which has been produced the dramas Goong S and Fantasy Couple. “Meteor Garden” may have 24 episodes and will present to Korean audiences at the end of the year 2008.

I think the producers are right that they will choose the female lead by her suitability rather than how famous she is. After all Meteor Gardens were full of unknowns and it launched the popularity of the 4 male leads who have now become the famous F4 boyband!. The rest you say is history.

second that. i think those who'll fit the role would be newbies.

put it this way. meteor garden is an established series. the character names will forever be stuck with the actor and actress. just like how barbie will always be known as san chai and so on.. it would be pretty awkward to have such leads who're remembered by another role.

So far, I really like the candidates for this poll. I'd be cool with any one of them....BUT, if I had to pick a guy, it'd be Jo In Sung. He's been away from the small screen for a long time and HYD would be an excellent come-back drama!

why can't they remake another japanese manga o-o.. like prince of tennis or something.. or even.. make death notes into a series.. i mean i think that would be much better than remaking MG..

As a Meteor Garden fan, I'm somewhat excited but somewhat meh. I mean, two versions plus an anime is a bit much. But I'm sure the Koreans will do something different with it.

As far as YEH goes, I think she could work. YEH has proved to go above and beyond in order to get into character and I think if presented with the opportunity to play someone like Shancai/Tsukushi, she could really make even more of a name for herself. I mean, despite how tough the main character is supposed to be, she is still a vulernable confused girl in various aspects of her personality.

I just hope that possibly with the story they will remain truer to the manga, which I still love.

I want YEH to be the lead too. I love her and i adored Shan Cai so thats a perfect convo. As for the guys, im not sure who i want to be paired up with YEH yet but still i hope she wins.
But Shan Cai seems like a different character than the ones YEH has played to me somehow :unusure: oh well good luck to her

erm YEH is too pretty for the role....no offense i love YEH but she wont suit it.....as the person was suppose to be pretty ordinary....with a bit spice and from certain angle she has to be cute....

honestly for DMS i think they need a fresh one...there no need to keep taking in the old one???....

hopefully they dont drag this series....as the series in taiwan was great but it got a bit draggy all around at the end and i prefer the animation.... >< sorry i meant no offense but F4 was great but it gotten to be a bit draggy at the ending.

I respectfully disagree. YEH IS a GOOD ACTRESS! She has proven that by winning the Best Actress Award twice (to win this award twice means she is a good actress).
And YEH is strong willed and tough. She did not quit on her dream eventhough she was shot in the eye by an anti, she also did not quit when people petitioned against her in Goong. And anyone knows how tough she is, she can beat guys as big as Kang Hodong in wrestling matches and even carry them.

But I doubt YEH will take this if it's offered to her, because she said in her CY blog that she wants to comeback with a mature role.
And in my opinion, she's too famous to go back to this kind of role.

ok so YEH is considered for HYD............ hmm wuldn't she be a lil tall? lol since the guys are suppose to be quite tall, YEH wouldn't look as cute? if she was towering or at least the same height as them.............

I don't NOT like YEH (if that makes any sense) & I wouldn't call her a bad actress but occasionally some of her scenes do make me cringe. I think the character of Makino Tsukushi / Shan Cai should be more petite (but strong.)

^Or an excellent farewell drama... JIS is due for the military so they better book him in fast if the want him !! I would like to see him play Doumyouji Tsukasa / Dao Ming Si XD

It would be nice for Hyun Bin to land the lead role too only because he hasn't had much cinematic or television success since Sam Soon.

Kang Dong Won seems to be concentrating too much on his movie career atm, it would be a surprise to see him come back to the small screen for me (although I would love it!)

All these speculations are nerve-racking! Hope they confirm the cast soon =P

Wow this is my first time hearing about this. It seems very interesting...
Although I do agree with some of the members here that the actors and actress should not be picked upon popularity...the most suitable has my pick too. I am really excited about hearing more about this...since MG was one of my favorite Tdramas ever.

It annoys me so much to see people dissing YEH. IF she were to take this drama (which I doubt) she'd do a bloody good job.

And to people saying she can't act, what would you consider good acting if you might so appease my curiousity?

From my point of view, if the Koreans do end up doing this, they'll be making huge changes to the plot. They'd have to, to keep the freshness of it. To 'make it fit' into their culture. I'm actually looking forward to seeing this. Imagine four hot guys on the screen, that calls for a happy me. =) And you know, the guy from Coffee Prince, the one who acted as the Japanese dude, he'd make a cute F4 person. I don't really care which one.

Don't know who they are because I'm not updated on my korean series but I really love Meteor Garden. I hope whoever they pick to star as Dao Ming Si and Shan Cai will blow everyone away with their performance and I can't wait to watch this series.

personally, i think they should stop remaking this series. they should stick with the taiwanese version, coz jerry, vic, ken, vanness, and da s are already stuck in many people's memories. they're like the PERFECT cast for this series.

I think the 2nd/middle girl can be Yuki/Xiao You character. She look timid yet tough type of person, that is Yuki when she express her feeling to playboy Ximen/Soujirou then been rejected right away.

what?? why are they remaking this again? we already have an anime, japanese drama, and taiwanese version (which totally sucked in my opinion, couldn't hold my interest). the only one i enjoyed was the japanese version.. just because it's so popular, doesn't mean we need 4 different versions of one story ! -__-
