I absolutely think Baron is pretty great.

I just started watching FTLY and noticed that he was pretty cute even though he hasn't showed up much yet. He plays one of those sad second leads that I love.
I also watched slam dunk a few months ago and noticed he was quite cute in there. However, I mainly watched it because of Jay Chou. I actually couldn't remember what role he played until I did some google-ing.
And also I did watch the news report of him being interviewed for playing the role in Jay's MV. I had no idea who he was then.
I guess I did watch everything he had a role in but just didn't notice.


I hadn't watched any variety shows of him yet. I normally like watching those better to understand their personalities better. From the comments, he seems like a quiet guy w/ random strange jokes.
I love "following" new stars cause there's not much info to catch up on but the down side is not being to be able to see much of him on screen.

I also think the name Dylan suits him more.

I did manage to find out that he is 30 yrs old. For a newbie, he is a lit bit too old but certainly does not look the age. I really think only if he can play the role well he would be fine. However, he does have a good start with a hit drama and connections w/ Jay. Jay Chou like Stephen Chow, n Dicky Cheung, he likes to have his own "team." He would use the same group of people over and over.

You know, you're only the second person I've heard say that he's 30 years old... Drama-Wiki has him listed as 27. But-- naturally, curious-- I looked it up, and his Taiwanese wikipedia DOES say that he's 30... and now I'm very confused. I wonder what Drama-Wiki's source is?

Can any hardcore Baron/QE fans remember whether or not they EVER said on air who's older-- Baron or QE? That would definitely settle the age debate once and for all.

I think Baron is older than Qiao En.
I recall seeing QE write as Chu He Ge Ge in one of her blog entries... Unless she's thinking that all the fans that view her blog are younger than her and Baron.
(It's in the Mr or Miss Chicken entry)

And I think there was this other time too that QE said Chu He Ge. But I'm not too sure about that.

On top of that, I somehow recall reading that he's 30 before haha. No idea where either.

haha.. I'm getting confused with his age.

I have one Play magazine here stating information about him and it said he is 27 yrs. old. But who knows, maybe they got it wrong too.

Or Baron doesn't want to reveal his age. Haha!!! But whether he is 27 or 30, he definitely looks younger than that.

and btw, after watching Kung Fu Dunk and FTLY (although not finished yet), I think I like him in KFD better!!! You just can't stop staring at him in KFD!! haha!! although the movie wasn't great I think.
He is not too appealing/charming as Dylan in the latter episodes. But he is really HOT during the first half of the drama.

can't wait for his next drama/movie!!

^^ I think I have the same issue of Play as you do, btrcup... which is another reason I just assumed he was 27. But, now... I don't know. LOL, Baron's so confusing and mysterious! It's all probably a big ruse to make us even MORE interested in him. Haha, as though he needed to do anything at all...
(Anyways, a big thank you to minivicki and btrcup for answering my question... although we're still confused >_<)

On the plus side, if he IS 30, there's more of a chance of ChuEn
But, on the negative side, if he IS 30, that's kind of late in life to get "started" in the entertainment circle. Best of luck either way, though. He's definitely got the looks and the talent.
Haha, the funny thing is... I was soo skeptical of Baron/River before FTLY... but there's just something about him...

it's still quite obvious that he still quite stiff in acting. i think the role in kung fu dunk fit him more. i am still not finished w/ FTLY yet but it's definitely getting better w/ him in it.

I just finished watching FTLY and like everyone else here, I immediately took notice of Dylan. He reminded me of MikeHe in DBY when his hair was that long and tied back. They're both so hot! I like Dylan's role in FTLY, i was hoping he'd end up with the female lead since he was so nice to her and was even the person who actually changed her not to be a sticky note anymore. I hope he can be paired up with Rainie, he will definitely go places. Is he always that quiet?

I didn't know he has a dog. He's so cute with his pug!! makes me want to get a copy of this!

I just got my Play August issue.. haha.. it's late already. But it got great pictures of Baron!! I don't have a scanner though to show it. haha...

and there was an interesting fact on him coz when they were at Kaoshiung promoting FTLY with QE and Ethan, He said that when he was in college, he was dating a girl who's from Kaoshiung and they'll spend birthdays together. Then QE quickly asked him how about now? if they're still talking with each other, if she's at the promo event, and what's her work. and he just answered that she's now working as a sticky note girl in a certain company.

haha.. he must be shy answering QE's question. hahaha!!

can't wait for his next project!! I hope he could just smile always coz he's so cute!! He's too serious most of the time I think, and he doesn't smile a lot and talk a lot, unlike Ethan and QE. I really hope he could improve more!! Jia You River!!

Huh? River's dad passed away a while ago. There was a big controversy at the time because Jay Chou attended the funeral, and River's dad was an infamous gangster who was wanted in Taiwan. People weren't happy... but Jay just replied simply that he wanted to support his friend.

Either the article messed it up, or it was the anniversary of his death? I briefly skimmed the article, and it said that River "entered the kitchen for the first time" to make some of his father's favorite dishes, hoping that he'd be able to enjoy it in the "afterlife." So it sounds like he went to baibai

In FTLY I really wanted to cry seeing his downcast expression at being rejected by XY time and time again. Who knows, I might actually cry, since I haven't finished it yet.

That's true, x.Cazz. He would be rejected again. But usually second female role gets more symphaty from viewers I tend to like supporting characters more than male lead - this way my heart will be with River and I won't betray him by pitying Jerry


He has this deep, mesmerising voice. It would be great if he can actually sing - this kind of voice is good for love ballads.

HAHAHA. omg. like many others in this thread, i was instantly attracted to him when i saw him in FTLY which was kinda weird to me. i didnt started watching the show cos of any particular reason just that everyone around me was talking about it, plus i was okay with qiaoen and had this overdue liking for xiaotian. BUT. HAHAH. chenchuhe was a total bonus. totally agree that he's drool worthy:D:D may be it's his detachness, cool personality, but sweet towards qiaoen, total opp of xiaotian which makes him honey to bees:D

It's been a while since I last caught up with Taiwanese dramas.. and now that i am finally done with all my work, i settled down watching Fated To Love You.. I watched it because I like Qiao En =) And I really like Baron in this show! =D

He acted well as Dylan i reckon, and there I really like the part where he flickered angrily at Cun Xi when he was insulting him. I googled him and i just realized he was the basketball player that i liked from Kung Fu dunk as well..hahah!

Hopefully he is able to get a leading role soon!

i haven't watch Kung Fu Dunk..... now that i know he is part of the cast, i guess it's worth watching it. hehe!
