Having revealed the Korean F4 last Friday, Group 8 has announced that Makino in the Korean Hana Yori Dango will go to actress Goo Hye Sun.

Goo Hye Sun will be the main female character in KBS2TV drama, “Boys over Flowers” (name for the drama) which will be shown in December. This will be Goo Hye Sun’s third drama in 2008 following SBS “King and I” and KBS “Strongest Chil-Woo” where she played the leading female role.

Goo Hye Sun plays Yeonoo that is the daughter of a Dry Cleaner owner, who is a swimmer at her school when her school doesn’t even have a swimming team. Near the dry cleaners, she was delivering or picking up clothes when she meets [runs into] the F4 leader and then whole series starts as she deals with certain episodes and events as she becomes Cinderella.

Director Jeon Ki-sang explains that he chose Goo Hye Sun because she fits Tsukushi’s image well, and acknowledges that the public had tossed her name around a lot as a prospective Makino when the drama was first announced. She was in fact one of the front-runners in polls.

Not becoz of i think GHS can't take on the role but becoz she's already surpass this kind of reole. meaning her acting is already up par with let say YEH (as a newcomer) or Lee Jun Ki. She's already acted in three drama's as lead actress and i think Makino's role is a step back for her.

hmmm...they're slightly deviating from the manga... idk if that's a good idea... i liked how Meteor garden & hana yori dango kept to the original as much as possible.. i wish they just keep the original storyline

I'm a big fan of Hana Yori Dango...so I really don't like the idea of changing the storyline...I guess maybe they felt like they have to or else people won't watch it. I'm going to sound a little mean here, but as cute as Goo Hye Sun is, she looks a little too old for Makino role..and as cute as all the guys are, they don't resemble any of the F4 original image. Well one of the guy do look like Hanazawa Rui...I do wonder how they're going to do Domyoji curly hair...

Since I'm a big fan of Hana Yori Dango I felt like making a Korean version is not necessary. But I guess people are running out of idea for dramas...Well I'll give this drama a try when it's out....who knows, it might even be good...(but then again I'm not a fan of Korean dramas).

Actress, Koo Hye Sun (25) has been cast as the heroine of the much anticipated drama, ‘Boys Over Flowers.’

On October 5th, Koo Hye Sun’s spokesperson revealed that, “Koo Hye Sun has to make haste and join the cast to begin filming in the middle of this month. She had been interested in contributing to this Korean Version of ‘Boys Over Flowers’ even before the announcement,” and that, “she is highly enthusiastic about performing in this drama.”

I've seen the TW version and the JP version, I hope the KOR version is good too I think each of the versions had their own touch and made the story their own according to their society. I'm excited to see how the KOR version will turn out

I knew YEH wouldn't take this role. It would have been a step back for her in her acting career.
She has said that she wanted a more mature role on her next series.
And she doesn't wanna be associated with Eight Peaks and Group 8 because of the conflict they had before when she was still under Eight Peaks management. So i knew there was no chance in hell for her to play Makino.

i also agree with some of the people in this thread...i don't think she fits the role...she doesn't seem to have the tough look..but we'll see how she does..they must have picked her for some reason rite? and also..if this doesn't meet my expectations casue the japanese and the taiwanese version did such a great job (except for the second meteor garden), i won't even bother looking at it even if hyun joong is in it. i am being kinda biased here becasue i've watched the jap. and taiwanese one, and everyone noes wat happens in the story i just hope they cahnge it around a bit so we don't get bored.

I think she'll fit the role well, since Makino is supposed to be all cute, pretty and tough.
