BIOGRAPHY:

David Wu is a Chinese-american who speaks Mandarin and Cantonese extremely well.
He was born in Southbridge, Massachussettes, but his family moved back to Taipei, Taiwan a year later. He spent his first 13 years in Taiwan, studying in an american school, where he was able to build his "bilingual laguage" skills. At the age of 14, he and his family migrated to Seattle,Washington where he eventually attended the University of Washington and graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 1988.

After completing his degree in Univeristy of Washington, he moved to Hong Kong and joined the movie industry in 1989. Since then, he has been in over 100 feature films, such as “Farewell to My Concubine,” directed by Chen Kaige, “Full Throttle,” with Andy Lau, “Restless,” an American independent film with Josh Lucas, Katherine Kellner, and Geng Le, to name just a few.

His involvement in the industry did not end there. Since starting out in films, through the years he got himself involved in other aspects of the entertainment industry, such as being a D.J. for a radio station , hosting various large scale events, and television, by acting in T.V. dramas, and hosting numerous variety shows. With all his involvement in the industry, his most notable work was his work as a V.J., or Video Jockey, for 10 years. A lot of people have seen his 5 minute interstitial English program called, “Go West,” which set a new precedence in the way people here in Asia perceive the English language. Because of “Go West“'s popularily, he created a new series called "Talk da Talk" which is all about learning English and having fun.

WIth Talk da Talk, he tried and blended American slang, idioms, everyday conversational English with his unique presentation skills. He tried and made learning English fun, entertaining, and most of all, useful for everyday conversation. But "this is really easier said than done," as what David always say . His brand of presentation calls for all his years of experience in movies, television and show hosting. More importantly, he really used his English background which comes from all the years of living in the U.S.

As an actor, singer, TV show host and VJ, David Wu does it all. Cordial and friendly, never lacking in energy, and basketball-crazy, he's pretty much this generation's ideal "big brother next door".

David Wu leads a very active lifestyle, just like the ones he acts out on the silver screen. Like a kid on permanent sugar high, he's always in the middle of things, directing/hosting five shows on Channel V, which makes him super busy. The list of shows he's worked on includes "Da Chao Liu", "No Sweat", "Go West" and the laid-back weekend "Wu-Man Show" and "Pepsi's Chinese Top 20". And while David Wu is an extremely hard worker, he is also the VJ for Channel V who likes to joke around the most.

The fact that as a Channel V host, David Wu was able to put his name on several shows proves that he as a person carried a bit of weight and seniority. In the relaxed atmosphere of the studio, adding in David "Wu-Man" Wu's chill conversational style allowed guests to open up and speak their minds freely, like talking with a good friend. Besides talking about music, David was prone to wander with topics, touching on anything under the sun: deep mysteries of philosophy and human behavior; trivialities like daily chores, food, and local celebrity gossip; or any other hot topic. There is nothing David won't talk about--nothing is forbidden--and in this way he is able to draw out a celebrity's true colors.

David Wu is assuredly one of the best VJs around. He is able to balance being a movie actor and a TV show host, and makes it look like, in his own words, "a piece of cake".

Later on he launched the Talk da Talk Radio Show, talkdatalk.com and even his first Talk da Talk English Club in Shanghai where the members can study English for Modern Living product and participate in club activities where they use and practice their English though all these great, fun activities, he personally believe that when you learn a language, the most important thing is that you use it. The more you use it, the better you'll get at speaking. As how David puts it: You try and make it fun and interesting so that you don't get all bored. People who are happy and learning always learn the best. That's what we're all about!"

Today, David remains one of the preeminent bicultural/bilingual entertainment personalities in China.

Hi! Hmm...I think this thread is supposed to be under taiwanese male artist . Yap, David Wu is an ABC, but actually born in Taiwan, and both of her parents are taiwanese. He's actually one of the first MTV VJ's in ASIA, along w/ Nonie Tao & Angela Chow, and he is popularly known as the "WU MAN". They were later pirated by Channel V, and he hosted the channel V show called "Go West". He speaks very fluent English, Mandarin and Cantonese. He has appeared also in a couple of films, (though I'm not familiar w/ his film works) but I know he is currently working in mainland china as one of the top male TV host there, and he pioneers in teaching chinese people how to speak english and is the host of the first reality tv show in china called "questUSA tv". I've seen him also in a taiwanese drama called "Basketball Tribe".

Here's some of his films & tv show. I hope I was able to help.
