I just noticed how hunched I am. I look at my shadow when I'm sitting on my chair and its like my head is a foot in front of my back. It looks ridiculous. I probably got it from sitting poorly on my computer chair and not leaning back to sit straight.

Is this normal?

One of my friends sits perfectly straight and stands perfectly straight. But it looks like she was forcing it or something.

hahah i think there are only few people that are really conscious about their posture...

it's so hard to sit while your back is straight :D

i think it's not normal you may damage your spinal cord which might bend totally in the future

A person's natural sitting posture is slightly slouched, but... not to the extent of your head sticking out that much, I guess. :P

As for me, I'm comfortable having a straight back sitting OR standing (i'm the only person who voted "straight", apparently +_+). I think it's something I took away from gymnastics, along with tucking my tummy and butt in. And I have large-ish boobs, which also accounts for why I straighten my back most of the time to counter the *ahem* weight.

I am pretty straight when i am sitting or standing. This is the only way i can be comfortable if i am going to be in these positions for considerable time. Therefore, i think i have quite a straight back.

I'm not completely conscious...which is why when I was younger, I got told off for being a bit hunchback sometimes..I still do it actually but I think I'm not as bad as before..

I've been sleeping in a fetal position all my life. It feels natural for me to sit hunched. When I walk, however, it's different.

i have this bad habit of sitting on the edge of my chair and leaning towards the table in a hunchback manner---which doesn't look so pleasing :P

imo sitting straight or leaning back in a relaxed/chill position is best:]

Straight back, of course. It's a habit ingrained by years of training in martial arts.

I have a hunchback.
I think it's like my vertebrae is too weak to support my body tho.
Sux... I always had a hunchback & always got yelled at by my parents.
I also sleep in the fetal position too. Funny... cuz I used to hear some snapping sounds when I would try to sit up straight... now I don't tho.

Try to keep it upright

I'm so annoying when it comes to sitting hunched over. I always nag my friends! STRAIGHT BACK EVERYONE!

Makes you leaner and tall and PROUDER. =P

Mines straight but sometimes when i sit down and tired I slouch a bit lol. Also to the original topic starter, you need to correct your posture, you dont want you're back to get more and more curved, just dont slouch and over time it will get straighter!

I have a slightly hunched back -- probably from spending hours and hours slouching over the computer. I slouch when I sit too, so that's probably not too good ;x I fix my posture as best as I can when I stand up, though. It's not too hard o: since I have to sit up straight when I play piano, anyway.

My parents are really strict about posture so I am used to having a straight back while sitting and standing. It's also one of the prerequisites for modeling anyways.

I have a straight back but when I am sitting down, it is the opposite, just laziness and can't be bothered.

when standing its always straight, I used to hunch when standing but my mom is always b*tching about that so i forced myself to change it.

When sitting I start out straight but after a while it goes slowly to hunching, probably because im getting tired or laziness

Same here. When I am facing the computer I slouch. Thus, I tend to have a slightly hunched back but I try to straighten things out when I'm standing. Playing the piano helps too since it's really ugly to look at someone playing and with his/her back hunched. Martial arts is a good way of developing posture too.

My posture is straight sitting, standing or walking. My body doesn't know any other way to position itself. Some people force it while others look natural. It's only when I have my feet up on the couch and curled up that I tend to let go a bit but my lower back tends to want to remain straight.

Mine's straight
When I'm tired or sitting too long infront of the computer I tend to hunch a little..
When I walk it is defenitely straight and up right also when I'm in heels.
Kickboxing and modeling well it kinda requires for you to have a straight back :]
