Eminem's conflict with Ray Benzino and The Source magazine may finally come to rest, as both emcees have expressed their desire to make peace after intense feuds and lyrical assaults.

Eminem contended that record labels profit when artists battle, as the disputes tend to generate more publicity.

"A lot of times when rappers have beefs, their sales go up so meanwhile the record labels and the heads of record labels benefit from this," Eminem recently told MTV. "They go home and they can sleep, they rest their heads knowing that they're selling records. Meanwhile, we're really out here."

Benzino responded to Em's bid to end their ongoing conflict, saying "It's all good. Time moves on, but if Eminem said that, I can only embrace that because he's a huge influence out there on the machine. My whole thing was really about the machine and if he's kind of speaking against the machine right now, then I'm all for a sit down and if it's going to be for the betterment of Hip-Hop and everybody, then I'm all for it."

Much of Benzino's angst toward Eminem has been rooted in race. He and his Source constituents presented a tape of Eminem using the N word about an African-American woman when he was younger, in the infamous "Foolish Pride" recording.

But Eminem owned up to his remarks on his latest album Encore, with the track "Yellow Brick Road" where he raps, "I've heard people say they heard the tape and it ain't that bad / But it was, I singled out a whole race / And for that I apologize / I was wrong."

The Detroit native also addressed the sizzling beef with The Source, Benzino and Ja Rule on "Toy Soldiers," a track Benzino said he was uncertain about at times.

The Boston-bred emcee told Hot 97's Angie Martinez, "It's like a whole bunch of different emotions so I actually let my guys tell me what they thought and they kind of thought that he sounded like he was kind of reaching out."

Benzino further explained that he didn't expected or intend the verbal quarrels with Eminem to erupt. "I think he's a huge influence and I think things got kind of crazy and it's a situation where maybe if he wouldn't have gotten so much on the defensive and tried to really understand what myself and The Source was standing for, we could have came to the table a while ago," Benzino said.

He added that he attempted to smooth over the incident with Eminem's record label Interscope before the "Foolish Pride" tape came into play.

The beef, Benzino said, has affected the business aspects of The Source, since Interscope has refused to advertise with the magazine or feature their artists.

"If you look in The Source, there are no Russell Simmons Phat Farm advertisements. It's crazy and that was because we went at Eminem and Russell took Jimmy [Iovine] and Eminem's side and there you have it," Benzino said. "The Source magazine went through some tough times, but at the end of the day it's a business and we survived because we're true to [ourselves] and we're true to Hip-Hop."

Benzino added that The Source will remain a staple in Hip-Hop and that artists need to end their conflict for the sake of Hip-Hop.

"We all have to come together and really stop trying to hurt each other because no other genre of music does this to each other," Benzino insisted. "At some point we can change it and if Eminem said that, I'm willing to sit down and definitely talk to him because whatever is the past is the past. We gotta work to make it better and make it better for our kids."

I forgot how the beef started but the magazine "The Source" is half owned by Benzino. And he was the one who dug up the racist Eminem tapes that he made 10 years ago.

"Nail in the coffin" is a diss song directed to Benzino.
...it's a pretty good song.

their beef started like years ago.

This beef between Ray Benzino and Eminem is still ongoing, the beef started when Eminem was reportedly angry that Benzino had given Em only 2 Mics in his magazine "The Source", and Benzino gave his own group four and a half mics and also put himself on the front cover of his own magazine. Benzino called Eminem a "culture stealer". Eminem retaliated to this by releasing 2 diss tracks on The Shady Records mixtape, called "Nail in the Coffin" and "The Sauce" on which he ripped Benzino apart with his lyrical attack. Benzino admitted defeat in the lyrical battle but then in an interview with Angie Martinez, Benzino accused Eminem of wanting to be a racist and also said that he was ruining the HipHop culture. In November 2003, Benzino held a press conference where he claimed he would prove that Eminem is a racist by playing a tape of Eminem freestlying. The tape was of Eminem rapping about black women being money grabbers. The music industry didn't take as bad to the tape as Benzino would have hoped. Most people realised that Eminem was young and was rapping in the aftermath of a bad relationship with a black woman. Eminem released another diss towards Benzino named "Bullly" and apologised for the tape. As I said, this beef is still ongoing, so keep checking back to EminemInfo for updates on the beef.

LOL i found this pretty funny
He seems to forget that he used to live across 8 Mile and that life in the black neighborhood was much more than risky for a white man and his family.

Benzino ignited the war between him and Eminem by calling the talented rapper «Vanilla Ice 2003».
In a track called « Pull Your Skirt Up », he started dissing Eminem :

"Five shades darker, you'd be Canibus/ And no one would care about your complicated rhyme style/ ... What you know about pumpin' on the block 'til you freeze?/ What you know about cutting up rocks, duckin' [detectives]?/ What you know about facing a grand jury indictment?/ As far as I'm concerned, you're just industry excitement."

Has Benzino suddenly become jealous of the best MC or did he need some publicity from the music industry ? Probably both. In his diss track he admits Eminem ‘s complicated rhyme style and he seems to be enraged, because -deep inside- he perfectly knows he will never be at Eminem’s level. It is laughable, Benzino has no skills, plus there are millions of annoying party rappers like him with the same style. The man lacks originality and has proven to be a perfect dumb*ss. But this wasn’t enough for Benzino who is so full of himself that he isn’t afraid at all of looking ridiculous in front of the world.

Benzino had no real arguments against Eminem, so he choose to attack him on his skin color and to says stupid things about Hailie. He said he intented to kill Marshall and to rape and kill Hailie( whose name he is unable to spell).Eminem’s response to Benzino’s diss tracks were « I don’t wanna » and « Nail In The Coffin ». Both lyrics have been reunited in the well known « Nail In The Coffin song » where Eminem verbally kills Benzino. « The Sauce » is also another diss against the Source magazine.
Benzino aka Raymond Scott aka Raydog has also proven he’s phoney. When he met Obie Trice in PuertoRico, he shook his hands and congratulated him on « Rap Name ». Eminem is making fun of it in « Nail In The Coffin ».
Obie Trice talks about his encounter with Benzino :

« The thing with Benzino, I seen him in Puerto Rico and he gave it up to me because I made "Fat Tape" in The Source that month. It was a big thing for me, and I was excited, I grew up on that. So to see "Rap Name" on "Fat Tape" I thought it was dope, so I seen him in the lobby of the hotel and he shook my hand like, "Yeah, I got you! Dawg, you tight, person!" Ya know, he's shaking my hand, looking me in the eyes telling me that stuff, but if I was a busta, he should have played me like one right then, face to face. So I only think there's a few real cats out here man, that's why I don't be trying to meet these cats, I keep to myself, my family and my crew. These cats ain't real. »

As 50 Cent said it so well, Benzino is trying to get some attention. He’s a bad rapper with no talent.

"The situation with Eminem and Benzino, and that's not beef. That's a person just trying to get attention, you know what I mean, 'cause they never had any altercations or any run-ins or anything. So I'm, like, 'That's corny.'"
"If he had a beef, I'd probably be in the middle of it--a real situation, you know what I mean--but that ain't nothing. It's obvious he's taking the shot to try and get on, you know what I mean?"

hmm...i think i heard something about this a while back (and now i also understand the whole thing with hailie)

but it seems to me that benzino knew that he was backed up into a corner, cause he owned half of the source magazine and without interscope, they practically had nothing

oh well, in the end, eminem is still awesome
