Unbelievable Singapore Hit Awards; Rachel Liang and Jam Hsiao win Most Popular in shock

The <Singapore Hit Awards> was grandly held recently, with Mayday and S.H.E being the big winners; however, newcomers Jam Hsiao and Rachel Liang's results were a bigger surprise. The two of them defeated entertainment circle seniors in an upset win, taking away Most Popular Male and Female Awards respectively, causing disbelief even for themselves. Besides receiving Most Popular Male Award, Jam Hsiao also won Best Male Vocalist, garnering much glory.

Rachel Liang won three awards alone, defeating seniors like Fish Leong, Jolin Tsai to take away Most Popular Female Award, shocking even herself. She hopes that her good luck in Singapore will push the sales for her coming November 20th album <Love, Always Exists> sky high.

However, the absence of Jolin Tsai, Fish Leong and Rainie Yang from the awards incited suspicion that Rachel Liang "won because of her attendance"; but Warner Music (to which she belongs) expressed: "Rachel is very popular in Singapore; besides A-mei and Jay Chou still won awards although they did not come."

Another person who made the audience frustated was "King of Few Words" Jam Hsiao, who won 2 major awards. Although he was shy as usual, giving a simple and succint acceptance speech, and was made awkward by the hosts, but he did not skimp at all with his singing, giving a breathtaking performance of <Princess>.

The <Singapore Hit Awards> was held grandly that night, attracting over 5000 people coming to support. Due to the theme of this year's awards being "A Night of Hits", the organisers specially arranged for more time for the singers to perform, allowing each singer who won to sing at least 3 songs, turning the ceremony into a mini concert.

Mayday and S.H.E were the big winners that night; the two groups joked around, acting out a show of challenging and snatching the awards, all the way to the backstage, where Ella jokingly wanted Mayday to bring it on.

Before presenting the award for "Most Popular Group/ Band", the presenter announced that the group's name consisted of 3 words, which made S.H.E. immediately stand and thank everyone as if they had won; the presenter continued saying: "The first word is a number!" Seeing that Mayday was winning, S.H.E. leaped from their seats, and posed a challenge to Mayday; Mayday's Masa played along with them by challenging them in return, causing the whole ceremony to break out in laughter.

When goofy S.H.E went backstage, Ella directly stormed into Mayday's resting room, proclaiming: "You guys are really something, even daring to snatch our award, don't think that you all are so great just because you have 2 more people than us, choose the strongest one and bring it on!" Mayday played along with her challenge, picking the weakest Guan You to fight it out with her; Guan You picked up a folding chair and pretended to throw it at Ella, fooling around whole-heartedly.

Fish picks up Outstanding Regional Artiste Award

Besides this, the <15th Singapore Hit Awards> broke traditions this year by announcing 6 big winners on November 6, before the awards ceremony. Wang Lee Hom and Mayday won YES 933FM's "Pick of the Pops Award - Single of the Year" and "Pick of the Pops - Artiste With Most Chart Hits" respectively. S.H.E, Eason Chan, Fish Leong and Zhou Bi Chang on the other hand, were the "Outstanding Regional Artiste" in the hearts of the judges and foreign media.

I didn't know Rachel was so popular here ^_^*

FIsh and Jolin are definitely more well-known/popular in comparison? Cause One Million Star only aired on cable TV and not a lot of people followed it.

Congratz to her and Jam :D

Congratulations to them! :D

Although I am quite shocked to know both of them won the Most Popular awards. Well, they may be popular in Singapore, but one look at their rivals and I go

well, that's true. That is probably why Leehom or Jay didnt win most popular male, and Jolin didn't win most popular female.
