For her new book, Zhang Yun Jing traveled to Tokyo for seven days. Her biggest breakthrough was entering a “Love Hotel” and observing the surroundings. She even had a sexy-themed photoshoot in one of the rooms’ bathrooms.
As soon as she arrived at this “Love Hotel”, the walls of the room were plastered with posters introducing the rooms’ Cosplay themes. Jing was both surprised and shy when seeing these. She said: “Japanese people are really inventive. The deepest impression I got from these costumes was a V-shaped piece of cloth that you put over your body. You only need a piece of cloth to cover all your important parts. These crazy costumes and expressions really can make your face go red and your heartbeat beat faster!”
And the cosplay costume that Jing liked the best was the [Leopard Girl]. She felt that there was a mysterious, yet entrancing feeling when putting it on.
During the bathing photoshoot, Zhang Yun Jing wore shorts and a small undershirt. However she kept on shivering and the staff was afraid that she would be too embarrassed. So they specially cleared the setting, with only the photographer Huang Tian Ren and a female co-worker. The entire shoot took one hour with over 300 pictures taken. In the end, only three pictures were chosen!
Jing explained to everyone: “In the beginning, I didn’t feel very confident because I don’t often have these ‘fresh/revealing’ shoots. But later I thought that I should be more professional and display the most relaxed, natural part of myself. So I changed my entire attitude. And I wasn’t shivering due to nervousness, the room’s AC was too cold!”
Staff on the set joked that ever since ZYJ came to Japan: not only was her body “bare”, even her way of speaking became “freer”!
They were worried that she would feel uncomfortable as she had to reveal a lot of skin. But what ZYJ cared about was whether her tank top would suddenly slip down. Off-camera, she would secretly adjust the top. Jing laughed: “If my top really slipped, then my fantastic figure would probably scare everyone!”
For her first book, Zhang Yun Jing had already set her mind on presenting something different for her fans. So she personally used her graphic-designing skills to create a notebook and an enclosed letter; both which are included in limited editions on sale. In the self-designed notebook, there are pictures of mean-looking animals that contrast with Jing’s regular expressions. This is to show that although Jing looks like a cold person on the exterior, she also has a “small girl’s” heart. As for the limited letter to fans, Jing specially designed the words to appear in the shape of a steel tower. Her inspiration came from the Tokyo Tower. Jing has a deep passion for steel towers; her feeling is that towers have a mysterious feel to them. Her dream is to “conquer” the towers of the world. She laughed: “After taking over the Tokyo Tower, I’m going to challenge the Eiffel Tower next!”
