NHK announced on the 20th the list of the 50 songs that performers will be singing at the 60th Kohaku. Resting at the end of this year, Ayaka will be performing Minna Sora no Shita to represent the red team. Appearing for the first time in the white team, Arashi will be singing A・RA・SHI and Believe as part of the ARASHI X KOHAKU Special Medley.

Kimura Kaela will represent the red team by singing her hit song Butterfly, DREAMS COME TRUE will be singing Sono Saki E〜Kohaku Special Version〜. Representing the white team, SMAP will sing Sotto Kyutto~Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana, while Mori Shinichi will be singing Hana to Cho, which was the first song he ever sang at Kohaku.

Many old classics will be performed again, including Mikawa Kenichi's Sasoriza no Onna and Nakamura Mitsuko's Kawachi Otoko Bushi for the seventh time, Ishikawa Sayuri's Tsugarukaikyo Fuyugeshiki for the sixth time, and Kitajima Saburo, who has made the most appearances on Kohaku at 46 times, will be performing his song Matsui for the fifth time.

lol i thought the same way too that arashi will perform 50 songs until i realized that would be impossibly long even if it's a medley! :lmao: :blush

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa A.Ra.Shi and Believe!!!! :yeah :yeah i wonder what other songs they would sing as part of the medley?!?! or are those the only songs they'll sing? Truth would be a good one too! and maybe some slow songs for diversity. hehe

extremely excited for this!

Edit: lolz i've heard A.ra.shi a long time ago and it was only recently that i've realized what the song meant. i didn't really internalized the lyrics before. and i wonder if Nino, Ohno and Aiba will do the cartwheel during their a.ra.shi performance. hahahaha

but Believe has good lyrics too! gives you an optimistic view of life eh like a lot of their other songs.

HAHAHA, 50 songs would be more than what they sing at their concerts!!
I'm happy they chose A.RA.SHI and Believe!

sparkles_n15

haha. that's what i thought too sparky.... i mean, they sing like an average of 30+ songs in their concerts so it's kinda hard to imagine them singing 50 songs though i initially thought it was because of the title. haha

meoinkie2

darn! riida was so effin' cute there when he was trying to tell the group like hey i'm still here and i wanna give a message :lmao: with that expression of his and he smiled at the camera like a lil kid! :blush funny how ohno rarely does say something and when he does, the group or should i say the duo Nino and Jun try to cut him, living up to their DOS titles. :lmao: wahahahaha and lolz at Aiba, thinking he said something wrong when the group was all silent after his piece.

EDIT: i just saw something over at lj that usually for first timers they are only given 1'40 - 2 minutes and even some veteran singers are given 3 min long performances but they will be giving arashi 4 minutes after careful deliberation coz NHK considers arashi as a national group and treat them as the highlight of Kohaku

saw it here thanks to yamakaze067 of lj

ermm.
abt the time.
will it be aired at 4:45-8:45 ( for GMT) then?
cuz i live in england so adding 9 hours to the japan time makes the above time.
i hope it makes sense.
and thanx for the info!
cant wait for this!!!!

^^ if you're in england, it should be Dec 31, 2009 10:45am - 2:45pm coz GMT+9 is Japan time so you deduct 9 hours to get GMT. japan time is GMT +9 so if your time is GMT, deduct 9 hours from whatever time is in japan....hope this helps

LOL! Like everyone when I saw the title I went "Wtf, how does one sing a medley of FIFTY songs?" xDDD But oh yeahhh! Arashi's gona be given 4 minutes even as a first timer? That sounds awesome. Does it mean that NHK really have JE extra spots because of Arashi? *shot* I wonder what song will they sing in the medley though. :P
