South Korean singer and actor Rain promoted his debut concert "Rain Effect" after retiring from the army at a press conference in Shanghai, China, 14 April 2014. Dressed in a formal cream-colored suit, Rain looked handsome and chic as always. He disclosed that he would return to the small screen in August and expressed no pressure for facing current hot and competitive newcomers. He even spoke highly of SHINee and Big Bang like a veteran of the showbiz. Speaking of the upcoming concert to be held on April 20, the 32-year-old Hallyu star said he would bring local fans 14 songs including "30 Sexy" and "La Song" from his new album, in which he changed his singing style a lot in hopes of having chorus with fans together.
Idol group MBLAQ revealed the status of their relationship with singer Rain.
In Mnet "Beatles Code 3D" aired yesterday, MBLAQ talked about recently moving from J. Tune Entertainment, the same agency as Rain, to Cube Entertainment. They stated, "Our contract ended."
The MCs asked, "So Rain wasn't the CEO?" and MBLAQ said, "No, there's a separate CEO. As artists, it's only natural that we go look for a better environment and offers at the time. I think that's why we moved."
MBLAQ was referred to as "Rain's group" in their days of debut. About this, Mir said, "Yes. He really was our producer."
The MCs again asked, "Does that mean he stopped working with you guys?" and the members said, "Rain told us right before going to the army that he wants us to be able to stand on our own now. He said that it was time for him to let go of us."
When they were asked, "Do you guys still keep in touch?" and they answered, "We contact him but he doesn't reply," arousing laughter.
Singer Rain has received a love-call to join Lee Hyungmin PD’s upcoming drama “Indian Summer.” Lee Hyungmin PD also happens to be the one who Rain worked with for his debut K-Drama “Sang Doo! Let’s Go To School.” Rain’s agency stated, “Rain has received an offer to star in Lee Hyungmin PD’s next drama, but nothing has been confirmed yet.”
"Indian Summer" will air near the second half of the year. It is expected to be one of the top dramas of this year with its traditional melodrama genre.
Five Singer-Actor Couples That Strike The Right Note
K-drama actors may be more likely to marry other actors and even occasionally muggles who don't work in show business. But some of the more successful couples around are k-drama actors who fell in love with k-pop idols.
While it can be difficult to balance two demanding schedules, it also makes sense that you would want to date someone who understands the pressure involved in being a public figure.
So, who falls into that actor-singer couple category? Check out these celebrity duos:
Rain is both a singer and an actor, having won the KBS Excellence in Acting award for his role in the k-drama "Full House." He has since appeared in two American films, "Speed Racer" and "Ninja Assassin," and now that he's finished his two-year military duty, will star in another Hollywood film "The Prince." So, he and girlfriend actress Kim Tae Hee can talk about the challenges they face on set. Kim Tae Hee was last seen in the drama "Jang Ok Jung." The couple has been dating for more than a year.
Are there any idol-actor combos you would like to see happen?
