it may not be all about whether it affects learning, but rather the image the school wants to present.

If its not hurting anyone I do not understand why ban it. Its a chance for girls to feel confident in school

my school banned nail polish, not that anyone actually follows that rule. it mostly is about the schools image and the way the public sees us.. which right now, we are known for having a very bad reputation :S

They can ban nailpolish?
Mine doesn't ban anything.. you can look as extreme as you'd like.
I had this extreme goth phase where i had more eyeliner then a raccoon and blacknailpolish

a ban on nail polish in schools huh, missgeekyspogebob, that's strict! I dindn't wear nail polish until college, I think. I wear it whenever I am in a nice mood to show off, of course. In America, as MadameMary says, "you can be as extreme as you like". Besides, it distracts the boys a little from the boring class as they draw attention to you a bit, so that's also quite nice. Then as you begin to date, you just try to be a little fancier.

They do? LOL!!

My school wouldn't give a toss if you wear it or not and you can have as many ear piercings and tattoos you like......well not that you could see the tattoos if its in a very secretive place. Posted Image

They have a right to ban nail polish? Not too long ago a school got sued for not allowing their female students to wear lululemon pants because it was against their rights.

Spoiler

We could use anything we wanted and rarely when I use something that was extreme. I don't support using make up for many reasons, they are mostly poisons anyway. But I don't support banning nail polish for wrong reasons. Nail polish does not harm learning, it only harms body system and animals as long as it is tested by animals.

nail polish was no doubt banned in my pri/sec sch (it's an elite school funded by the government) because it's a public school and it has a reputation to uphold. It's the same for all other public schools here. I think girls started wearing nail polish once they were out though. I generally do not wear them because they are troublesome lol

Best to ban it because it just stops the students going mad over nail polish, which colour to paint them and etc. Just makes them concentrate less on work and more on fashion....
