Johnny's Jimusho announced on Friday that NEWS members Yamashita Tomohisa (26) and Nishikido Ryo (26) have both left the group. Yamashita will be focusing on his solo career, while Nishikido will focus on his activities with Kanjani8. The remaining members – Koyama Keiichiro (27), Kato Shigeaki (24), Masuda Takahisa (25), and Tegoshi Yuya (23) – will continue as a 4-person group.

NEWS originally made their debut in 2003 as a 9-member group. Moriuchi Takahiro left shortly after that, and members Uchi Hiroki and Kusano Hironori were later forced to leave the group after it was revealed that they were guilty of underage drinking.

Yamashita made his solo CD debut in 2006, and he completed an international solo tour in 2010.

Nishikido has been a member of Kanjani8 since 2002.

Awww that sucks I really like NEWS together as a group. Somehow maybe its me but I like Yamapi more with the group but somehow I know he will go solo sooner or later since he's influenced by Jin (no offense) and seeing how successful Jin is when he went solo I guess its bound to happen. As for Ryo maybe its a good thing i feel really bad for him running back and forth between two groups. It gotta suck two members leaving the same time hopefully NEWS will bounce back soon haha Keiichiro is still there

This has been a long time coming. Johnny's isn't stupid enough to not recognize Yamapi's potential as a solo artist. Sad thing tho... what's gonna happen to NEWS?

kinda hard for any JE group to disband
so i'm guessing they will just rebound like kattun

Yamashita and Nishikido are both good going solo (mostly with acting), but just hope that NEWS won't lose as much fame now that they left...
