Son Jaycee Chan surprise the former actress with a performance



Recently, former actress Joan Lin celebrated her 60th birthday. Her husband, kungfu superstar Jackie Chan, stayed with her throughout the celebration, which was secretly arranged by their son Jaycee Chan.

Joan had shied away from the limelight after she married Jackie at the height of her career in 1982. Their marriage brought forth son Jaycee.

On Jan 30, Jaycee attended his entertainment agency's annual dinner, of which mum Joan was in attendance.

At the dinner, Jaycee surprised his mother with a birthday celebration and performance. The singer-actor had especially penned, composed and performed a birthday song to convey his gratitude to mum that night.

Jaycee then promised his mother that he would work harder at finding a girlfriend and have kids, moving Joan to tears.

Jackie, who was busy filming in Japan, also took time out from work to attend the surprise event. He even stayed on to accompany wife Joan for the entire evening.

Smiling widely during Jaycee's performance, father Jackie commented in mocked jealousy, "My son has never celebrated my birthday before."

When probed on what birthday gift they had prepared for Joan, the father-son pair replied in unison, "Top secret".

Jaycee later jokingly shared that he had even prepared lyrics to his self-composed song before his performance as he knew that his father would not comprehend the words in his song.

It's good to know Joan Lin is finally in the position of official wife, now that Jackie is wrinkled and semi-retired. She's cruising now - all Joan has to do now is wait for Jaycee to get married, and bring her some grandchildren.

While we on the outside as modern women may 'pity' Joan Lin for her existence thus far .... bringing up Jaycee like a single mom on her own while monkey man is out there impressing the starlets that come his way ....
At the end of the day this traditional iron-woman did perhaps rule her nest right, and got what she probably wanted. Jaycee's obviously pretty filial and loyal, and cares for his mother. And despite all the affairs (known, and unknown to public) Joan maintains her official wife status and is Jackie's CFO (chief financial officer).

The dude does not acknowledge any other female as any significant other. Whether this is out of respect to Joan or he fears her - all the more it's power to Joan.

Which is more than what we can say for some Taiwanese stars of her time who marry into the prince-status rich families, and who lost out to a younger, more manipulative/vindictive starlet(s) along the way. (Linda Hsieh Ling-ling + Peter Lam (divorced), Peter Lam and Joel Wong (break up) ... Bridget Lin + her Esprit husband etc etc)
