Kenny Wee loses Charles Heung's backing

Posted Image

With his latest lawsuit spree, it was rumoured that restaurateur Kenny Wee's godfather, Charles Heung, is ready to cut ties with the former.

According to Popular Asians, although it was earlier reported that Kenny is backed by a Hong Kong tycoon in his litigation pursuit, sources claimed that the businessman in person is no other than Charles Heung himself, founder of China Star Entertainment Group.

However, Charles' wife recently debunked rumours of her husband's support, saying that Charles has been long irritated by Kenny's actions and is ready to cut off their connection.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Heung also publicly supported Eric Tsang due to his "kind-hearted nature".

Nevertheless, many believed that Mrs. Heung's recent statement was only made due to her son Jacky Heung's friendship with Eason Chan, husband of Hilary Tsui – the latter being one of the alleged drug abusers in the restaurant scandal, while Oscar Leung's girlfriend, Tina, also works for Heung's company.

At the moment, Kenny Wee has already pressed charges against Eric Tsang for physical assault and Oscar Leung for defamation.

If this case is a law enforcement issue, why does anyone need any backing? Can't HK law enforcement do its job?

Law Enforcement? What's that? According to JC .... he used to have to walk around with grenades and guns to self-protect himself against triads.

Ahhh so there's more to this .... the dude used to have Charles Heung's backing.
All this says to me is - if NO major egos have been rubbed (ie you made some Big Brother lose face, through insulting his minions down there) ....
  • the rich stick together when shi*t hits the fan, and would rather sacrifice their minions
  • there's a bigger, more powerful and rich figure (with mega-bucks to burn) playing in there ... someone with with way more clout and influence, and Charles Heung recognizes that. (I'd tag Charles Heung perhaps in the Albert Yeung, Peter Lin class ... but not up there in the Li Kar-shing player level).

I guess HK is just another first world veneer society with an actual third world tribal justice system.

Isn't that true of many systems anyway?

What do you call Old Boys' clubs in so many big cities then? It's really about how it's justified and packaged. I am sure world-class city NY has its own unseen ruling class who calls the shots.

To be cynical - everything can be a categorized as a '3rd World Tribal Justice System".
Triad leaders are legit, respected members of society, leaders who sit on many directorships, advisory boards and clubs and are charitable big patrons of many chariities too. Bush had all his buddies and cronies too.

They have money, wonderful fronts and rub shoulders with the politicians and people that matter. The minions front the shady ... they front the legit. No connections whatsoever. So we think, so it looks.

Wherever your are ... isn't it all about how sophisticatedly and beautifully legit-looking the packages and justifications are? For laws and decisions to be passed despite protests sometimes, and despite the good of all?

And $ (legit or otherwise) churns money (and justice).

IF someone had the power to engage a team of Queen's Counsel ... and more money to back any discrepancies (no expenses spared) = is fighting for 'justice' (whatever the real justice and truth is, in this case) with limited resources going to be worth it?

Let's just say ...the Heungs aren't in the same playing field as the Hos.
