Thanks to PSY's explosive hit "Gangnam Style", we have a new #1 celebrity in the ranking of stocks.
According to PSY's agency YG Entertainment on January 2nd, YG CEO Yang Hyun-suk saw a 67% increase in his YG Entertainment stake, jumping from a value of 131.4 billion won at the end of 2011 to 219.5 billion won at the end of 2012.
This edges him ahead of SM Entertainment mogul Lee Soo-man, who used to be #1. Lee ended 2011 with a total stake of 184.7 billion won in SM Entertainment, which was enough to rank him at the top of the celebrity list then. However, he only increased by 8.3% over the past year, wrapping up 2012 with a stock ownership worth 200.1 billion won.
Coming in at third was actor Bae Yong-jun with 23.7 billion won in stocks for KEYEAST Entertainment, next Yang Soo-kyung with 8.2 billion won in Yedang Corporation's stocks, and Park Jin-young at fifth place with 7.3 billion won in JYP Entertainment shares.
