The 10 year production The Grandmaster finally released in Mainland. Lead actor Tony Leung and lead actress Zhang Ziyi were willing to sacrifice their time and lose several jobs to shoot this film from beginning to end. In 2010, it was rumored Korean actress Song Hye Kyo "fussed" and was unwilling to take up extra time to re-shoot some scenes. After spending a year shooting, she only had 6 minutes of screen time in the 130 minute film, lead actress Zhang Ziyi occupied 100 minutes!

Although Song Hye Kyo had little screen time and declined to participate in the promotions, lead actor Tony Leung still praised her professionalism despite having a language barrier with the crew and basically gave a lot of 'face'. Tony said: "I totally understand her situation. In the past, I went to Taiwan to shoot Hou Hsiao-Hsien's film not knowing any Mandarin. At the time, I felt as if I was mute and couldn't speak. But, Song Hye Kyo was very professional, she was able to portray the elegant woman, she's a very rare actress." Wong Kar Wai's production style is 'patient work makes a good product', and may not necessarily understand every artist. Tony works very closely with the director, asked if he tutored Song Hye Kyo? Tony laughed: "She's very professional, not necessary."

Tony Leung also praised Zhang Ziyi, he said: "I admire her. I don't need to say much about her acting, but she trained her Kung Fu well. It's amazing. I had a few action scenes with her, because we had to accommodate several things, I couldn't hit her lightly. That night we were shooting the scene 50 times, so absolutely there was accidental hitting and stepping involved, I know she was in real pain due to her old injuries, but she held it all in. I really admire her, very rare!"

Finally she's willing to participate in a Chinese movie and then they mess it up...WTF only 6 minutes screen time??? she spent a year filming dude....so I guess she's now less willing to participate in any Chinese project in future wtf... In Korea she's bigger than both Leung and Zhang combined

Of course SHK is bigger in Korea since she is from there! If we're talking world wide, Tony wins hands down when it comes to fame because he's known for his great acting. think it's a shame that it took so long just to make a film. I can understand why Song is so frustrated. I would be too.

Wow they must have con SHK into making this movie. They're making a movie about a master that is made famous by Bruce Lee, who life is actually not that interesting why, because he is a master that do not like to show off, and they put all this untrue event into his life. Movie is a movie. So who's next, Bruce Lee's cleaner?

Now she is quite quiet in Korea. Her best work is still Autumn heart?

She is still one of My fav I love her... 1 year and only 6 min? I can understand her if she don't want to participate in any other chinese movie next time, at least make sure she gets more screen time. I want to watch this one I adore Tony, and even that SHK only has 6 min then I am happy that both are in the movie:)

...the first thing that caught my attention was the '10-year' production. 10 frigging years?! I would have lost my patience too. lol But honestly, 6 minutes??? They'd better pay her well for wasting an entire year filming just to get that 6 minute of screen time..

^ Wong Kar Wai is a perfectionist that's why. but yeah, it's a pity that SHK only get to star in the film for 6 mins after a year of hard work. i would've flipped as well. but i think she was told beforehand about the outcome in her contract.

The qualms of working with wkw. 6 mins for the whole movie, she's almost like a kelefe, but nice to see her working with tony. She'll be back for drama land soon as main lead in a melodrama yay

6 minutes but it paid off since it's a Wong Kar Wai movie we are talking about.
