she had problems last time to perform in taiwan because shes from mainland..
and back in china they pressured her to support the One China policy..
so it was quite hard for her

Stefanie Vs A-Mei? I still think Stefanie Sun is better. However, this picture posted above is a nice one. This is the one Stefanie wear during the MTV Awards. No personal issue here just my individual opinion.

any good sites on her? i was wondering how her performing is ... i really want to see her performance, especially the one at leehom's concert in taiwan. but yea.. her sister saya is pretty... and saya CAN DANCE. i was fortunate to be able to see her perform and dance when she came to LA in 2002. thats why im wondering how A-Mei is . heard a lot about her though. and always thought she was from Taiwan. but.. i guess she's not right? She's originally from China?

Wow...some people are confused. A-mei is definitely NOT from mainland China - in fact she's not even ethnic Chinese! She's a Taiwanese aboriginal, from the Puyuma tribe of eastern Taiwan. Supposedly she's a tribal princess. (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-Mei).

In the late 90s she was the biggest-selling artist in Mandarin pop. Her "Bad Boy" album broke all sales records in Taiwan, and by 1999 she was huge in China too. Then Chen Shui-bian was elected Taiwan's President in 2000 and she sang at his inauguration. Although it was the Republic of China's national anthem that she sang, Beijing still associated her with Taiwan independence and she was banned for about a year. In 2004 she had to cancel another mainland tour after some students protested at a concert. Later some people in Taiwan accused her of selling out her homeland to get her mainland career back, so she's had to walk a tightrope while getting attacked from both sides.

How I wish I could attend her concerts... I've always heard they're worth going to...
Her last album was quite good but I prefer her older songs... But she still remains Taiwan's best female singer IMO :)
