KC may meet Drew Barrymore to discuss global hunger

MANILA - Actress-host KC Concepcion might meet Hollywood star Drew Barrymore next year in one of the events of the United Nations-World Food Programme (UN-WFP).
"I don't know [when will that be]. I think there's an event next year in New York. I'm not sure, but I really love to meet her," Concepcion, UN-WFP national ambassador against hunger, said during the launching of "KC Cares. Swatch Shares" campaign.
Barrymore, 34, was named UN-WFPs ambassador against hunger in 2007, a year before Concepcion was accorded the same title.
Concepcion said their meeting will depend on Barrymores schedule, noting that the American actress has so many other appointments and commitments.
"There are still talks but her schedule is a bit hectic as well. But hopefully it pushes through, she added.
If the meeting pushes through, the Lovers in Paris actress said she and Barrymore can discuss, among other things, the efforts to end global hunger.
"Both Drew and I have the same advocacy so we have a lot of things to talk about regarding global hunger," she said.

Rhap Salazar Debuts on US TV Via The Ellen DeGeneres Show

After Charice, junior world champion Rhap Salazar performed on the Ellen DeGeneres show and wowed the new American Idol judge Ellen.
Rhap performed on the top-rating talk show his winning piece at the 2009 World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA), All By Myself by Celine Dion. Ellen revealed that it was Rhaps birthday wish to perform on her show and Rhap said that he will never forget this moment.
Ellen described Rhaps voice as incredible and with so much power and emotion. She asked the 12-year-old champ who are his favorite singers. Rhap mentioned the names of Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Josh Groban and Beyonce Knowles.
Last July, Rhap Salazar bagged the Junior Grand Champion Performer of the World at the 13th World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA).

HK star Andy Lau keeps new wife indoors to stay out of media glare

HONG Kong superstar Andy Lau has barred his Malaysian wife Carol Chu from going out, Sin Chew Daily reported.
The newspaper reported that an agreement was reached between the couple in the hope that media attention on their marriage would be played down.
Andy also recently made up to Carol by booking a whole cinema to watch the Michael Jackson film, This Is It, in Hong Kong.
The cinema's staff members were stationed outside the building to ensure that the couple enjoyed the show without being disturbed.
Andy's parents and 10 of his assistants also watched the film with the couple.
It cost about HK$5,000 ($900) to book the cinema, which has seats with massage functions, the report said.
After learning that reporters had gathered outside the cinema, the couple left by the backdoor, which led to the car park.
Andy's love life has been in the news this year.
In February, he denied being married in an interview with Hong Kong's Cable TV.

Zhang considers war drama, romance as next project

HONG KONG -- Looking for a new project after finishing a comedy, Zhang Yimou is considering adaptations of novels set against China's Cultural Revolution and the Japanese invasion in World War II, his assistant said Wednesday.
The Chinese director is wrapping up an adaptation of Joel and Ethan Coen's 1984 movie "Blood Simple." Zhang's comedy about the owner of a Chinese noodle shop whose plan to kill his cheating wife and her lover is scheduled to be released in China on Dec. 11.
For his next movie, Zhang is considering four or five possible projects, Zhang's assistant, Pang Liwei, said in a phone interview Wednesday. Pang would only reveal two of the possible projects - two adaptations of Chinese-language novels.
The source material are Ai Mi's Internet-published novel "Shan Zha Shu Zhi Lian" - or "The Love of the Hawthorn Tree" - and Yan Geling's "Jin Ling Shi San Chai" or "The 13 Women of Nanjing," Pang said.
Ai's book is about the romance between a young woman and a young man from different class backgrounds during China's ultra-leftist 1966-1976 Cultural Revolution, when families from wealthy and politically incorrect backgrounds ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)

Actress Panda Narrator

Actress Song Hye-kyo has been picked as a narrator for a documentary film featuring pandas facing the threat of extinction due to an earthquake that hit Sichuan Province, China, last year.
Song, 28, was appointed as Asia's first panda goodwill ambassador by the Chinese government in June.
Song will shed light on the pandas' hidden world and the threat of their extinction during the documentary, ``Good Morning Panda,'' co-produced by South Korea and China. It will be broadcast through EBS TV's Docu Prime Wednesday.
The panda, a mammal native to China, is loved all over the world owing to its cute appearance.
Song, who visited a panda habitat in Sichuan Province after becoming a goodwill envoy, has been working to publicize the need to preserve pandas across Asia while calling for international support for the project.

The production announcement for the movie "Actress" on November 17 at the COEX Megabox was unprecedented. First, actress Lee Mi-sook appeared wearing a gorgeous glittering dress. She was followed by actresses Kim Min-hee, Ko Hyun-jung, Choi Ji-woo, Kim Ok-bin and Yoon Yeo-jung. The last one to appear was director Lee Jae-yong.
"Actress" is a story about six actresses of several generations who get together for a fashion magazine photo shoot on Christmas eve. Each actress plays herself in the movie. The six actresses are also the co-scriptwriters.
In the movie, the actresses talk and act at their own discretion in the given circumstances. Sometimes it is even hard to tell whether they are acting or whether that is how they are in real life.
In the scene that was shown at the production announcement, Ko Hyun-jung and Choi Ji-woo have a fight, which looks very true-to-life. Lee Mi-sook said that she was startled to see the two fighting for real, because when the scene was filmed Ko Hyun-jung had yet to appear in the TV drama "Queen Seondeok," while Choi Ji-woo was a "Korean Wave" star.

Very little has been heard about actress Erika Sawajiri after she was dismissed from her agency a month and half ago. She left for Spain in late September, avoiding the eyes of the media. The actress has not been seen anywhere nor has she made any public statements.

SINGAPORE : Kpop fans in Singapore are in for a musical treat come December.
Some of the top names in the Korean music scene such as rock band FT Island and the all-girl quartet Brown Eyed Girls are headed to Fort Canning Park for the inaugural Sundown Festival Seoul-d Out event.
Come rain or shine, the one-night only event will go on and is set to last a good four hours so Kpop fans will be set to get their fill.
The Sundown Festival Seoul-d Out also has on the line-up, pop trio T-Max. For those who may not be aware, these are the voices behind Paradise one of the theme songs on the popular Korean drama "Boys Over Flowers". Incidentally, one member of T-Max, resident rapper Kim Joon, also starred in the drama.
Other musical guests lined up for the December 12 event include solo acts by rapper Mario, singer Lee Ji Su.
