E! to launch Asian version of flagship news show

HONG KONG One of America's best-known entertainment news shows is launching an Asian edition.
Los Angeles-based E! Entertainment Television will launch a weekly half-hour edition in Asia that combines both Hollywood and regional entertainment news in the second quarter of 2010, the international media arm of U.S. Internet and cable TV operator Comcast Corp., said in a statement sent Tuesday.
"E! News Asia" is part of a new push for localized content in Asia, Hong Kong-based Comcast International Media Group said.
E! Entertainment Television has already launched local editions of "E! News" in Italy, France, Germany, Poland and Latin America. The company will also add subtitles to more of its shows that air in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand, the statement said.
"The Asia-Pacific region is one of the global media industry's most exciting areas of growth ... When you think of groups like 4minute and 2NE1, what comes to mind? From leggings with gaping holes to rose-patterned swimsuits, the bold and trailblazing fashion sense of kpop's trendiest groups undoubtedly plays a big factor in creating the unique identity of every group. Recently, many personal belongings of various celebrities have been put up for auction to benefit charity.
In this Celebrity Volunteers event sponsored by bntNews and Hyundai, Big Bang, 4minute, 2NE1 and Goo Hye Sun donated personal wardrobe items and paraphernalia in order to help children's charities in Korea. Furthermore, Wheesung and Chunsin-soo will be present for a signing event as well.
"We hope that poor children will be happier and better off with the proceeds from these charity items," a Hyundai official expressed. "We want to give them hope."

The annual Taiwan Golden Horse Film Festival and Awards, kicking off November 5 this year, is known as the Chinese-language Oscars. But they have seen almost no best-director winners from Taiwan since 1996.
The awkward fact about Taiwan filmmakers is that for at least a decade, they have been eclipsed by their counterparts from Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland at their own film festival.
Award recognitions aside, box-office performance of Taiwan films has generally been upset. "Since Hollywood films entered Taiwan a decade ago, what they've done has been to oppress local films," Taiwan director Chu Yin-Ping said recently.
Facing a depressing filmmaking climate in Taiwan, some directors came to the mainland, like Chu; some chose to wait back in Taiwan for a breakthrough. "They are doing other jobs in this business - acting, making music videos or television dramas. I think they have paid their dues," Chu said.

Universal Records has formally announced the signing of pop singer Jane Zhang, or Zhang Liangying, at a press conference in Hong Kong.

"Mugen," the 20th CD single from voice actress and singer Nana Mizuki, debuted at #3 on Oricon's CD single ranking chart for the October 26-November 1 week. The CD is Mizuki's 10th single to land in the weekly top 10, and her 9th consecutive single to do so. It sold about 45,000 copies since October 28. "Mugen" is the second opening theme song of the White Album anime. The CD single also contains the "Tenkuu no Canaria" opening theme song from the Tales of Symphonia the Animation: Tethe'alla-hen anime, the "Dear Dream" ending theme song from the Card Gakuen television program, and the song "Stories."
Mizuki became the first seiyū (character voice) with a #1 album on Oricon's weekly album chart in Japan with the June release of her Ultimate Diamond CD. Last year's "Trickster" single reached #2 with a personal high of 57,201 copies, and it was Mizuki's eighth single to rank in the top 10. Her Nana Mizuki Live Fighter Blue X Red Side became the first release by a musical artist to sell over 10,000 Blu-ray Discs.

Johnny's Jr. member Morimoto Shintaro will play his first ever lead role in the upcoming movie 'スノープリンス 禁じられた恋のメロディ / Snow Prince Kinjirareta Koi no Melody [lit. 'Snow Prince Melody of Forbidden Love']'. The main theme song for the film titled 'スノープリンス / Snow Prince' will be sung by 'Snow Prince Gasshodan'. ['Gasshodan; 合唱団' means 'choir'.] They will release their debut CD on December 2nd. The limited period group is made up of 11 Johnny's Jr. members and will perform until January next year. The oldest member Kishimoto Shintaro is 13, while the youngest is 8 year old Chino Aoi. Four other members are 9 years old, so half the group is younger than 10. Taiwanese singer Pan Mei Chen was locked up backstage for three hours in Chongqing, China, after a disagreement with concert organisers.
According to Pan's agent, Cash, she lost contact with Pan on Saturday, when the singer was in Chongqing for a performance.
"Whenever she performs overseas, we will always keep in contact via phone calls. However, I wasn't able to reach her on Sunday. She managed to contact and relate her ordeal to me on Monday," said Cash.
According to the singer, the disagreement started when the host began distributing gifts to the audience during her performance. Pan immediately requested that the host do so after her performance but was ignored.
"She felt that the organisers were disrespecting her performance and she decided to leave the stage and return after the gifts have been distributed. However, the organisers saw her retreat as a refusal to carry on with her performance," said Cash.

5-member girlgroup WonderGirls will be returning to the States again to resume their promotions there.
On 3rd November, a representative revealed, The WonderGirls will returning to the States this weekend on either the 7th or 8th. After returning to the States, the girls will be doing interviews from magazines and newspapers as well as appear on TV shows.

Health and Family Welfare association under the Youth Protection Committee has revealed on 3rd November that GDragons first solo album Heartbreak is inappropriate for youth. And in particular the 2 problematic songs from the album are Shes Gone and Korean Dream.
According to an official, both the songs Shes Gone and Korean Dream contain profanity in their lyrics, hence deemed as unhealthy media. Also the song Hooligan from Supreme Teams minialbum Supreme Team Guide to excellent adventure is also deemed as unhealthy media.
