HONG KONG : Hong Kong actress Carina Lau is reportedly skipping this year's Golden Horse Film Awards in Taiwan because of rumoured love rival Maggie Cheung.

Five-time Golden Horse award winning actress Cheung has agreed to be a presenter at the November 28 award show, her first appearance in nine years. The awards is seen as the Chinese-language "Oscars".

Shortly after the news made headlines, Lau who was invited to represent husband, actor Tony Leung, at the film festival's executive committee meeting, declined the invitation, citing work commitments as an excuse.

Leung, 47, is unable to attend the prestigious event as he is busy filming martial arts movie "The Grand Master", which is scheduled to be released next year, while Lau, 43, is involved in Chinese film "Let The Bullets Fly".

Lau's manager has played down the matter, saying, "Things are fine between Carina and Maggie. Carina would very much like to attend the meeting but the crew refuse to let her go. She is still trying to fight for it."

The long-running feud between love rivals Lau and Cheung, 45, over Leung is no secret and a rendezvous between Leung and Cheung in August this year has reignited rumours of the love triangle.

IS EVERYTHING hunky-dory in the Carina Lau-Tony Leung Chiu-Wai household?

The Hong Kong media are speculating on whether the 43-year-old actress is cheating on her husband after the paparazzi took pictures of her 'behaving intimately' with another man.

According to Hong Kong reports, while her actor-husband Tony, 47, was away, Carina 'took the opportunity to throw a house party' in their apartment.

One of her guests was a man who was described as 'having a big nose and bearing a resemblance to gongfu star Jackie Chan'.

Carina, who was glamorously dressed, was said to be 'in very high spirits and downed several glasses of what appeared to be alcohol'.

She and her male guest apparently spent a lot of time alone chatting in the kitchen.

As their conversation got more enthusiastic, their 'body language became more intimate'.

However, no lines were crossed, the Hong Kong media added, because 'Carina was evidently still rather clear-headed'.

It seems tenuous to use this incident, where nothing actually happened, to speculate on Carina's fidelity to Tony, but that's the Hong Kong paparazzi for you.

It has taken them slightly more than a year since the couple's lavish $6 million wedding in Bhutan last July to come up with this 'scandal'.

Not content with that, they went on to rake up Carina's reputation as a heavy drinker and party animal.

The Hong Kong media pointed out that it was common for her to 'drink till she is drunk'.

In Hong Kong, Carina is said to frequently hang out with her entertainment industry buddies in clubs till the wee hours.

When she is in Taiwan, she would look for friends ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)

HONG KONG : Hong Kong celebrity couple Tony Leung and Carina Lau have been married for slightly more than a year and already there appears to be cracks in their marriage.

In August, Hong Kong media reported that Lau, 43, created a scene when she found out about Leung’s rendezvous with friend and frequent co-star Maggie Cheung, but this time, the spotlight is on Lau.

When Leung, 47, was away, the actress reportedly took the opportunity to throw a house party and was even photographed behaving 'intimately' with a male guest.

Described as a Jackie Chan look-alike because of his big nose, the man and Lau were seen having a chat in the kitchen. As their conversation got more intense, their body language became more intimate. Fortunately, Lau who appeared to be rather clear-headed, left the kitchen before anything could happen, the Hong Kong media reported.

The actress, who has a penchant for the nightlife, once told the media that she would quit her bad habits and stay away from nightspots. However, it appears that she has not been able to live up to her words.

Lau and Leung’s relationship has always been under the spotlight. The couple, whose 19-year long courtship saw endless break-ups, finally tied the knot in Bhutan in July last year. Since then, they have been trying to conceive a baby but without any success.
