Three years ago, a car crash left Hu Ge hospitalized for about half a year. In that same car crash, a colleague of the Shanghai Tangren company – Zhang Mian – died. Upon recovery, Hu Ge published a book about the accident. He took the money earned from the book and used it to build a hope school. The school recently opened and was named after Zhang Mian.
From Hu Ge’s blog, last week. All HQ photos by Hu Ge:
Today is your birthday, we all remembered.
I was organizing pictures of the children at home. Their smiling faces made me forget all unhappinesses.
Today, should’ve always been a happy day.

Yahoo! News
Chinese actor Hu Ge has the smash hit drama series Chinese Paladin (based on the popular RPG video game series The Legend of Sword and Fairy) to thank for his ascent to fame, and he knows it. In an overseas phone interview, he poignantly said, "Without Chinese Paladin, there will not be Hu Ge."
He shared that he was particularly happy and touched at the stellar ratings and praises showered on the second installment of the serial, Chinese Paladin 3. He was also the lead actor in the first show, Chinese Paladin.
The 27-year-old laughed when he recalled the difficulties he had in 2005 filming Chinese Paladin 1. Still a student back then, Hu Ge was under a lot of pressure and was often rebuked by the director. Unlike the past, he knows how to better exercise his capabilities to its full potential and communicates better with people now.
Given his strong background in period drama, the actor easily shared that Linghu Chong from Louis Cha's wuxia novel, Laughing In The Wind was his favourite martial arts figure. However, when asked if ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)

<Chinese Paladin 3>, which stars Hu Ge, Wallace Huo, Tang Yan, Liu Shi Shi, Lin Zi Cong and many other actors, will make its debut in CTV in July. Based on a popular classic game with the same characters' names, also being supported by the fans of the game <Chinese Paladin 1>, this new series will likely be one of the hottest television series for this year. <Chinese Paladin 3>'s main actor, Hu Ge, who was a stinky punk before, has started to firmly establish a "hero" status for himself. Yesterday, Hu Ge was interviewed by a reporter:
Reporter (R ): If the characters of Xue Jian, Lan Kui, and Zi Xuan in <Chinese Paladin 3> are living in the modern life, and also coincidentally all falling for you, what would you do? Which character do you like the most?
Hu Ge (HG): I think I'll accept Zi Xuan more easily, because Xue Jian ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)

Hu Ge kneels and proposes to Jin Sha, acts in a time-traveling series but is not afraid of being compared with Louis Koo
Monday May 18, 2009 China

The Myth, the drama version of the Jackie Chan movie of the same name, is currently filming in Heng Dian. In it, Hu Ge timetravles to the Qin Dynasty and has relationships with four beautiful ladies, similar to that of Louis Koo. Today, Hu Ge's character Little Chuan is proposing to Jin Sha's Lv Su. Hu Ge put a flower ring on Jin Sha's fingers and kneeled, being very romantic.
In the drama, Hu Ge plays three different characters - modern day brothers Big and Little Chuan as well as an Qin dynasty general Meng Yi. Hu Ge said that acting as so many different characters can confuse him, "somtimes in one day, I have to act as different people in different stages of their lives. In the morning I'll be super happy and in the afternoon I'll be sad. It's very hard."
Because both travel from modern days to the Qin dynasty, Hu Ge's character in The Myth is similar to Louis Koo's in A Step into the Past. Hu Ge says he has never saw A Step into the Past before but that comparisons means people care.

Even the confidant Hu Ge had his knees shaking in front of Jackie Chan.
“As a younger artist, I’m far from Jackie Chan. Earlier, when I saw Jackie Chan, I was so nervous that my knees were shaking. But I will try my hardest to follow his lead,” Hu Ge said today.
The executive producer of the drama version of “The Myth,” Jackie Chan just announced his pick of the male lead -Hu Ge.
Jackie said about Hu Ge,” After barely surviving through the car accident, he still dares to face many dangerous scenes. His experience is a myth in itself.”
Other than the idea of traveling through time, the TV series is suppose to be completely different from the original movie. The female lead is suppose to be announced after the Chinese New Year, but director Tang Jili said that they might also do an internet search since many actresses now look too modern.
