Mayday and S.H.E: They love (Aunty) Lucy
It seems that Aunty Lucy's popularity has spread overseas with foreign artistes like Taiwanese musicians Mayday and S.H.E not able to resist "her" charm.
Dressed in drag, 933DJ Dennis Chew was dressed as Aunty Lucy who was a presenter for Best Band and Best Group categories at the recently-concluded 15th Singapore Hit Awards last Friday.
The moment her name was announced, the crowd went into frenzy. Seconds after Taiwanese band Mayday received the Best Band award from her and hurriedly left the stage, Aunty Lucy said to the microphone, "They seem very scared of me! Why is no one hugging me?" With that, Mayday's bassist Masa immediately spun around, ran up the stage and gave Aunty Lucy a big bear hug!
Winner of Best Group, Taiwanese trio S.H.E loves Aunty Lucy so much that they kept mimicking her signature move, "So embarrassing!" After Ella saw Masa hugging Aunty Lucy, she followed suit when they went up on stage to receive their prize, leaping into her arms and even wrapping her legs around her!
So what does Ella think of that hug? "I didn't know that Aunty Lucy ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)

The Singapore Golden Melody Awards the night before was once again a gathering for Chinese singers, and Mayday was the biggest winner of the night, taking Best Band, Album of the Year and three other major awards, beating the likes of Jay Chou and Wang Leehom.
S.H.E ranked second with four awards, and while receiving their awards they also found the time to make fun of Mayday, joking that they want to have a showdown with the rock band. Even Ashin could not help but exclaim that S.H.E is so energetic all the time: “It’s so amazing!”
S.H.E took home Best Group and the All-rounder Award, together with two other major awards, and performed for 15 minutes. Ella was extremely playful, first accidentally singing with a Tai-yu accent and laughing, then asking the entire audience to stand up and sing along with them.
They even pretended that they wanted to fight with Mayday for the ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)

Mayday, S.H.E and Fahrenheit the 3 biggest groups in Taiwan, for this new year's eve will not be rushing around venues, they will remain in Taipei's city government plaza exclusively accompanying Taipei's citizens to see in the new year. As a result this has caused a lot of dissatisfaction at the other venues, inferring the new years eve party at Taipei plaza whose broadcasters are TVBS had spent large sums of money to lock the big stars to the one venue, causing problems for the other new year's eve events in Taiwan. TVBS commissioner Wang Li Ming said "We never demanded anything, it was the singers that were worried that running from venue to venue will effect their performances, you can't blame us."
This year Jolin Tsai, A-Mei, Jam Hsaio and Jay Chou etc will not be singing on new year's eve, creating ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)

In order to keep their promise to fans, Mayday paid a price of NT800,000, giving birth to the first 'electricity shutdown' concert at the Taiwan Dome.
They encored till late the night before and kept their promise, deciding to sing till 12 midnight. The Dome staff stood behind the audio control and stared intently at the stopwatches in their hands. Mayday left the stage at 11.59pm and switched off the sound system, indicating that they will not sing anymore. The stage turned pitch dark all of a sudden and just as the peaceful silence is about to resume, the tens of thousands of people continued singing "la la la" in harmony.
Ashin shouted in the darkness, "Let me hear your voices! The Dome is ours! This world is ours!" Their fans were touched to tears and Mayday went up stage once more. With torchlights in their hands, they bowed to the crowd. The concert hall lit up at 12.05am and the ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)

Mayday's concerts have always been filled with energy. The five of them singing, together with influence from the fans' passion, always resulted in them being unable to stop singing. During their opening night two days ago, the concert started at 7.30 pm and was slated to last till 11pm. However, they kept singing till 11.48pm. According to the Dome's rules, there is a fine of NT300,000.
The problem is, Mayday insisted that they had actually left the stage at 11.45pm and the remaining 3 minutes was due to the airing of VCR. This difference of 3 minutes translates to a difference of NT100,000 in fines. Although the company is still in discussion with the venue provider, there are still 3 concerts from last night till Sunday night. The management company, worried about being fined, reminded ..... Taiwan band Mayday delivers a tireless 31/2-hour concert
Monday August 31, 2009 Singapore
![]()
DURING their major gig here last April, the guys of Taiwanese pop-rock band Mayday exclaimed that they were 'going to play till the roof of Singapore Indoor Stadium flies off'.
Last Friday, back in town for their two-night Mayday DNA Singapore Concert, the five lads rocked out loud and hard.
The stadium's roof remained intact, but it was clear that the band had set a new benchmark for Asian live performances.
Playing to a near full-house capacity of 6,500 fans - the second night had already sold out all 8,000 tickets during pre-sales - who waved their light sticks and cheered boisterously throughout, lead vocalist Ashin, guitarists Monster and Stone, bassist Masa and drummer Guan You put in an astounding showcase of stamina and musical finesse as they stretched the concert to 31/2 hours.
Clever visuals
Starting at 8.40pm, their set of nearly 35 songs ended well past midnight.
Not that the audience, made up mainly of working professionals in their 20s and 30s, seemed to mind one bit.
With a production cost of NT$500,000 (around $20,000), Mayday's concert boasted spectacular stage ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)

Mayday's brazen fan
Friday August 7, 2009 Singapore

AS ROCK cliches go, this one is right up there.
Midway through their concert in Shanghai last month, something was flung unexpectedly on stage, leaving the boys of Taiwanese pop-rock band Mayday surprised and embarrassed.
It was a bra, courtesy of an overly enthusiastic female fan.
Said lead singer Ashin, 33, in an interview with The New Paper: 'We had witnessed such sights before at a Bon Jovi concert and were looking forward to similar spontaneity from our fans.
'But we were slightly taken aback by the fact that our maiden experience happened in mainland China. We didn't think the ladies there were so liberal!'
Mayday was in town recently to promote its upcoming concert, to be held at the end of the month at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The bra-flinging incident clearly piqued the interest of many at the press conference.
One journalist cheekily asked if 'it (the bra) was still warm' when it came into contact with the guys.
While Ashin grinned and said they were 'too engrossed in their set' to notice it, his bandmate, drummer Guan You, didn't ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)

Mayday hopes to continue making music at old age
Thursday July 30, 2009 Taiwan

Yahoo! News
Most people are afraid of growing old. Just the thought of the escalating number puts them in sighs. Despite an average age of over 30 years old, the members of Mayday look forward to growing old. They also hope to continue with their rock and roll music even in their old age.
The renowned Taiwanese band was invited to make a special guest appearance at a charity event held at Geylang East Home for the Aged, one of the beneficiaries of the SMRT Silver Tribute Fund, which aims to provide assistance to caregivers of the needy elderly. A group of active agers even put up a performance for the band and danced along two music tracks produced by the band, "The Apple" and "Crazy World".
Although their view of the performance was disrupted from time to time by members of the press and public, they remained in high spirits and lead guitarist Shitou even kissed the mascot and danced along with it. At the press event, Masa shared that after their band practices at seven or eight in the morning, they would often come across ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)

TAICHUNG, Taiwan : The drummer of popular Taiwanese rock band, Mayday, is under police investigation for possession of two stolen vehicles, Taiwan media reported.

According to Guan, he purchased the BMW after learning that it was selling at $1.18 million Taiwan dollars (S$60,000) at a second hand shop in Tao Yuan, a steal compared to the original price of over $4 million Taiwan dollars (S$200,000). Little did he know that it was a stolen vehicle.

Taiwan's Heavy Hitters
Thursday July 2, 2009 Taiwan

Three big Taiwanese names are coming our way. The boy band Mayday and songstress Faith Yang will perform this weekend, and the newly formed Super Band of heavyweights makes its Shanghai debut on July 11.
Tickets for Mayday are almost sold out. And tickets for Yang and Super Band are selling very well, with only a small number available now.
Yang makes her Shanghai debut in the concert "Have Faith" at Shanghai Grand Stage.
Mayday and Super Band - formed last December by four big names with a combined 68 years in music - will both perform at Hongkou Football Stadium.
Yang is both a rocker and a fashion model. Cool and stylish, she sings a lot but doesn't talk too much, unlike many other singers, her shows are about singing - only singing, no glitzy costumes and sets - and her style is considered fresh, straight and independent.
Yang was born in Taiwan and began to learn the piano at the age of five. She graduated form ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)

Sure enough, they have truly earned the name "King of Concerts"! Mayday were honoured with the award for Best Band at the 20th Golden Melody Awards. At the conclusion of the awards event, they went to Mei Zi Restaurant to hold a celebratory dinner. When asked how they felt about receiving the award, band leader Monster expressed that he was very happy. Adding to that, 2009 is also their 10th year as a band so receiving the award this time held extraordinary significance. Furthermore, even though Mayday joked that defeating their rivals "The Chairman" felt "really good", in actual fact everyone's great friends. At the same time, Mayday raised their glasses to all the other bands that were nominated, expressing that all the nominees were all respectable opponents.
In regards to taking home the Best Band award for the third time, Monster also jokingly said that Mayday had finally fulfilled "無三不成禮" [T/N: phrase meaning not complete without the third]. Lead singer Ashin ..... (article cut to save bandwidth)

Fish Leong misses out on Music Queen while Mayday who are under the same company, took home Best Band and at the celebratory function on June 27, they expressed the injustice they felt for Leong. Ex-boyfriend Masa praised Leong saying she can sing very well and isn't undeserving of this award, but she still needs this as confirmation.
Fish Leong and boyfriend Tony appeared looking sweet together at the Golden Melody Awards. Masa laughed saying he had already given the couple his blessings, but will he give them a big red packet? Masa replied that Fish didn't need money, then others immediately added, "Masa needs the money more!" When Tao Zi encouraged Fish Leong who missed out for the 5th time to keep persevering, she couldn't help but cry there in disappointment.

It's been rumored that Mayday went out of tune at Kenting's Spring Wave Music Festival this weekend. Additionally, they talked a lot during their performance; fans didn't feel that they got to listen to enough songs. The crowd yelled at them, "We've been cheated!"
Audience members said that, when Mayday played last Saturday at Kenting's Spring Wave Music Festival, they went out of tune on their very first song, 夜訪吸血鬼 [Ye Fang Xi Xie Gui] [Midnight Visit With a Vampire]. During their third song, 戀愛ING [Lian Ai-ing] [In Love-ing], they played their usual audience trick-- getting them to shout "L-O-V-E!"; however, the yelling went on for more than ten minutes. It seemed as though Mayday was stalling for time! AShin joked, "Everyone was tired; Mayday was tired, too!" During the choruses for both 如煙 [Ru Yan] [Like Smoke] and 突然好想你 [Tu Ran Hao .....
